But I withheld my hand, and for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

But I kept myself from punishing them at that time. I wanted my name to be honored. So I kept it from being treated as if it were not holy. I did not want that to happen in front of the nations. They had seen me bring Israel out of Egypt.

But I withheld my hand and acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.

毋痛疾我、彰爾仁慈、爾駐蹕之所、夙著榮光、勿以為辱、爾與我立約、請誌之勿忘、

我怒不遽發、不滅絕爾者、正以彰我榮、我置爾於洪爐、非煆鍊爾若金也、實歷試汝以艱耳、我僅降爾以災、欲彰我榮、使爾不謗讟我名、不以我榮光、歸於他人。

上帝矜憫無涯、赦宥頻加、不忍翦滅、屢遏其怒、不奮其威兮、

耶和華與、我罪戾孔多、爾鑒察之、雖屢背爾、願爾赦宥、彰爾仁慈。

然我猶加矜憫、不忍殲滅、不使殞沒於曠野、

救主上帝、爾其祐予、赦我罪愆、彰爾仁慈兮、異邦人侮予曰、維彼上帝、在何所兮、上帝兮、爾僕見殺、求爾雪恨、使異邦人知之、余亦目擊兮、

予罪孔多、願耶和華特加赦宥、彰爾仁慈兮、

耶和華欲墮郇邑、主畫準繩、滅之毋惜兮、城堞邑垣、傾圮偕亡兮。

斯邑斯民、皆屬上帝、望主垂聽、望主赦宥、望主助余勿緩、以彰爾榮、

耶和華兮、矜憫為懷、真實無妄、榮光歸主、不歸我兮、

我上帝之聖所荒蕪、求爾垂顧、以彰主榮、應僕所祈、
