But I withheld my hand, and for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

But I kept myself from punishing them at that time. I wanted my name to be honored. So I kept it from being treated as if it were not holy. I did not want that to happen in front of the nations. They had seen me bring Israel out of Egypt.

But I withheld my hand and acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.

“我为我的名暂且忍怒，为了我的荣耀向你容忍，不将你剪除。看哪，我熬炼你，却不像熬炼银子；你在苦难的火炉中，我试炼你。我为自己的缘故必做这事，我岂能被亵渎？我必不将我的荣耀归给别神。

但他有怜悯，赦免他们的罪孽，没有灭绝他们，而且屡次撤销他的怒气，不发尽他的愤怒。

就是把你的手缩回，远离我身；又不使你的威严恐吓我。

耶和华啊，虽然我们的罪孽控告我们，求你为你名的缘故行动吧！我们本是多次背道，得罪了你。

虽然如此，我的眼仍顾惜他们，不毁灭他们，不在旷野把他们灭绝净尽。

拯救我们的上帝啊，求你因你名的荣耀帮助我们！为你名的缘故搭救我们，赦免我们的罪。为何让列国说“他们的上帝在哪里”呢？求你让列国知道，你在我们眼前伸你仆人流血的冤。

耶和华啊，求你因你名的缘故赦免我的罪，因我的罪重大。

耶和华定意拆毁锡安的城墙；他拉了准绳，不将手收回，定要毁灭。他使城郭和城墙都悲哀，一同衰败。

主啊，求你垂听！主啊，求你赦免！主啊，求你侧耳，求你实行！为你自己的缘故不要迟延。我的上帝啊，因这城和这民都是称为你名下的。”

耶和华啊，荣耀不要归与我们，不要归与我们；要因你的慈爱和信实归在你的名下！

我们的上帝啊，现在求你垂听你仆人的祈祷恳求，为你自己的缘故使你的脸向荒凉的圣所发光。
