But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

我在曠野、諭其子女曰、勿循爾父之典章、勿從其律例、勿以其偶像自染污衊、

當彼在曠野時、我告其子孫曰、勿效列祖之尤、勿從其所行、勿拜其所崇之偶像、自致污衊、

我在曠野、諭其子孫曰、勿從爾祖父之習俗、勿守其陋規、勿因其偶像、自染污穢、

I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Do not follow the statutes of your parents or keep their laws or defile yourselves with their idols.

I spoke to their children there. I said,‘ Do not follow the rules your parents gave you. Do not obey their laws. Do not make yourselves“ unclean” by worshiping their gods.

“ And I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their rules, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

“ Then I warned their children not to follow in their parents’ footsteps, defiling themselves with their idols.

“‘ Then I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Don’t follow the statutes of your fathers, defile yourselves with their idols, or keep their ordinances.

“ Instead, I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers or keep their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.

“ But I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

“‘ But I said to their children in the wilderness,“ Do not follow the practices of your fathers; do not observe their regulations, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

I said to their children in the wilderness,‘ Don’t walk in the statutes of your fathers. Don’t observe their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.

Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I[ am] the LORD your God.

Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God[ are] alive every one of you this day.Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.Keep therefore and do[ them]; for this[ is] your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation[ is] a wise and understanding people.

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,[ as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation[ received] by tradition from your fathers;

The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and[ from] your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the LORD.

And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land, and made mine heritage an abomination.

That the generation to come might know[ them, even] the children[ which] should be born;[ who] should arise and declare[ them] to their children:That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation[ that] set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

But[ as for] you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness.And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers[ did], so[ do] ye.

And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks.

Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.

And the LORD’S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers’ stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.
