可是以色列家在旷野背叛了我，没有遵行我的律例，弃绝了我的典章（人如果遵行这些，就必因此活着），大大亵渎了我的安息日，那时我说我要把我的烈怒倒在他们身上，在旷野把他们灭绝。

可是以色列家在曠野背叛了我，沒有遵行我的律例，棄絕了我的典章（人如果遵行這些，就必因此活著），大大褻瀆了我的安息日，那時我說我要把我的烈怒倒在他們身上，在曠野把他們滅絕。

然而以色列家在曠野卻叛逆了我，不遵行我的律例，反而棄絕我的典章、（就是人若實行、必因此而活着的），大大瀆犯我的安息日。『我就心裏說我要在曠野將我的烈怒傾倒在他們身上，來消滅他們。

惟以色列家在曠野、悖逆乎我、不循我典章、棄我律例、人若遵行、則緣之得生、且犯我安息日特甚、我則曰、必在曠野、傾我怒以滅之、

然以色列族在曠野、違逆乎我、不遵我禮儀、犯我安息日、浸假有人守我法度、則可保生、惟彼藐視之、故我自謂、必在曠野、震怒斯眾、滅之務盡。

然以色列族在曠野悖逆我、不遵我之律例、藐視我之法度、人若遵行、必由此得生、彼又大犯我之安息日、我言將震怒斯民、震怒斯民或作傾洩我之盛怒於斯民滅之於曠野、

“‘ Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws— by which the person who obeys them will live— and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness.

“‘ “But in the desert the people of Israel refused to obey me. They did not follow my rules. They turned their backs on my laws. The person who obeys them will live by them. They totally misused my Sabbath days. So I said I would pour out my great anger on them. I would destroy them in the desert.

But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not walk in my statutes but rejected my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live; and my Sabbaths they greatly profaned.“ Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to make a full end of them.

“ But the people of Israel rebelled against me, and they refused to obey my decrees there in the wilderness. They wouldn’t obey my regulations even though obedience would have given them life. They also violated my Sabbath days. So I threatened to pour out my fury on them, and I made plans to utterly consume them in the wilderness.

“‘ But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my statutes and they rejected my ordinances— the person who does them will live by them. They also completely profaned my Sabbaths. So I considered pouring out my wrath on them in the wilderness to put an end to them.

They did not walk in My statutes and they rejected My ordinances, which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them; and they greatly profaned My Sabbaths. Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them in the wilderness, to annihilate them.

Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments,‘ which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

“‘“ But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They didn’t walk in my statutes, and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keeps, he shall live in them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

“‘ But the children rebelled against me, did not follow my statutes, did not observe my regulations by carrying them out( the one who obeys them will live by them), and desecrated my Sabbaths. I decided to pour out my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the wilderness.

But they rebelled against me, and refused to listen to me; no one got rid of their detestable idols, nor did they abandon the idols of Egypt. Then I decided to pour out my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

As for foreigners who become followers of the LORD and serve him, who love the name of the LORD and want to be his servants– all who observe the Sabbath and do not defile it, and who are faithful to my covenant–

I did this because they did not observe my regulations, they rejected my statutes, they desecrated my Sabbaths, and their eyes were fixed on their fathers’ idols.

At Horeb you provoked him and he was angry enough with you to destroy you.

The LORD said to Moses,“ How long will this people despise me, and how long will they not believe in me, in spite of the signs that I have done among them?I will strike them with the pestilence, and I will disinherit them; I will make you into a nation that is greater and mightier than they!”

Your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness– all those of you who were numbered, according to your full number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me.

So now, leave me alone so that my anger can burn against them and I can destroy them, and I will make from you a great nation.”

For all the people have seen my glory and my signs that I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and yet have tempted me now these ten times, and have not obeyed me,

And he said to me,“ Get up, go down at once from here because your people whom you brought out of Egypt have sinned! They have quickly turned from the way I commanded them and have made for themselves a cast metal image.”Moreover, he said to me,“ I have taken note of these people; they are a stubborn lot!Stand aside and I will destroy them, obliterating their very name from memory, and I will make you into a stronger and more numerous nation than they are.”So I turned and went down the mountain while it was blazing with fire; the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands.When I looked, you had indeed sinned against the LORD your God and had cast for yourselves a metal calf; you had quickly turned aside from the way he had commanded you!I grabbed the two tablets, threw them down, and shattered them before your very eyes.Then I again fell down before the LORD for forty days and nights; I ate and drank nothing because of all the sin you had committed, doing such evil before the LORD as to enrage him.For I was terrified at the LORD’s intense anger that threatened to destroy you. But he listened to me this time as well.The LORD was also angry enough at Aaron to kill him, but at that time I prayed for him too.As for your sinful thing that you had made, the calf, I took it, melted it down, ground it up until it was as fine as dust, and tossed the dust into the stream that flows down the mountain.Moreover, you continued to provoke the LORD at Taberah, Massah, and Kibroth-Hattaavah.And when he sent you from Kadesh-Barnea and told you,“ Go up and possess the land I have given you,” you rebelled against the LORD your God and would neither believe nor obey him.You have been rebelling against him from the very first day I knew you!

This is what the LORD says:“ Because Judah has committed three covenant transgressions– make that four!– I will not revoke my decree of judgment. They rejected the LORD’s law; they did not obey his commands. Their false gods, to which their fathers were loyal, led them astray.

if you reject my statutes and abhor my regulations so that you do not keep all my commandments and you break my covenant–

Consequently the one who rejects this is not rejecting human authority but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

On the seventh day some of the people went out to gather it, but they found nothing.So the LORD said to Moses,“ How long do you refuse to obey my commandments and my instructions?

The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron:“ Separate yourselves from among this community, that I may consume them in an instant.”

They quickly forgot what he had done; they did not wait for his instructions.In the wilderness they had an insatiable craving for meat; they challenged God in the desert.He granted their request, then struck them with a disease.In the camp they resented Moses, and Aaron, the LORD’s holy priest.The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it engulfed the group led by Abiram.Fire burned their group; the flames scorched the wicked.They made an image of a calf at Horeb, and worshiped a metal idol.They traded their majestic God for the image of an ox that eats grass.They rejected the God who delivered them, the one who performed great deeds in Egypt,amazing feats in the land of Ham, mighty acts by the Red Sea.He threatened to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger.They rejected the fruitful land; they did not believe his promise.They grumbled in their tents; they did not obey the LORD.So he made a solemn vow that he would make them die in the desert,make their descendants die among the nations, and scatter them among foreign lands.They worshiped Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead.They made the LORD angry by their actions, and a plague broke out among them.Phinehas took a stand and intervened, and the plague subsided.This brought him a reward, an eternal gift.They made him angry by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them,for they aroused his temper, and he spoke rashly.

They have quickly turned aside from the way that I commanded them– they have made for themselves a molten calf and have bowed down to it and sacrificed to it and said,‘ These are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up from the land of Egypt.’”

Just as they have done from the day that I brought them up from Egypt until this very day, they have rejected me and have served other gods. This is what they are also doing to you.

I did this because they rejected my regulations, did not follow my statutes, and desecrated my Sabbaths; for their hearts followed their idols.

These were the families of Issachar, according to those numbered of them, 64,300.

for I know about your rebellion and stubbornness. Indeed, even while I have been living among you to this very day, you have rebelled against the LORD; you will be even more rebellious after my death!

“ Get away from this community, so that I can consume them in an instant!” But they threw themselves down with their faces to the ground.

Someone who rejected the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.How much greater punishment do you think that person deserves who has contempt for the Son of God, and profanes the blood of the covenant that made him holy, and insults the Spirit of grace?

Because he has despised the word of the LORD and has broken his commandment, that person must be completely cut off. His iniquity will be on him.’”When the Israelites were in the wilderness they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and to the whole community.They put him in custody, because there was no clear instruction about what should be done to him.Then the LORD said to Moses,“ The man must surely be put to death; the whole community must stone him with stones outside the camp.”So the whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the LORD commanded Moses.

The land will be abandoned by them in order that it may make up for its Sabbaths while it is made desolate without them, and they will make up for their iniquity because they have rejected my regulations and have abhorred my statutes.

How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and insulted him in the desert!They again challenged God, and offended the Holy One of Israel.

“ But they– our ancestors– behaved presumptuously; they rebelled and did not obey your commandments.They refused to obey and did not recall your miracles that you had performed among them. Instead, they rebelled and appointed a leader to return to their bondage in Egypt. But you are a God of forgiveness, merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and unfailing in your loyal love. You did not abandon them,even when they made a cast image of a calf for themselves and said,‘ This is your God who brought you up from Egypt,’ or when they committed atrocious blasphemies.

But they rebelled and offended his holy Spirit, so he turned into an enemy and fought against them.

He says,“ Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah, like they were that day at Massah in the wilderness,where your ancestors challenged my authority, and tried my patience, even though they had seen my work.For forty years I was continually disgusted with that generation, and I said,‘ These people desire to go astray; they do not obey my commands.’So I made a vow in my anger,‘ They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’”

The one who despises instruction will pay the penalty, but whoever esteems instruction will be rewarded.

Why have you shown contempt for the word of the LORD by doing evil in my sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and you have taken his wife as your own! You have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.

because you neglected all my advice, and did not comply with my rebuke,
