I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, by which the person who obeys them will live.

This way of faith is very different from the way of law, which says,“ It is through obeying the law that a person has life.”

And you commanded them, through Moses your servant, to obey all your commands, decrees, and instructions.

Yes, there are great benefits! First of all, the Jews were entrusted with the whole revelation of God.

“ But these instructions apply only to distant towns, not to the towns of the nations in the land you will enter.In those towns that the Lord your God is giving you as a special possession, destroy every living thing.

“ But their children, too, rebelled against me. They refused to keep my decrees and follow my regulations, even though obedience would have given them life. And they also violated my Sabbath days. So again I threatened to pour out my fury on them in the wilderness.

“ Right!” Jesus told him.“ Do this and you will live!”
