I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, by which the person who obeys them will live.

I gave them my rules. I made my laws known to them. The person who obeys them will live by them.

I gave them my statutes and made known to them my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live.

There I gave them my decrees and regulations so they could find life by keeping them.

Then I gave them my statutes and explained my ordinances to them— the person who does them will live by them.

Yet the law is not of faith, but“ the man who does them shall live by them.”

“ You came down also on Mount Sinai, And spoke with them from heaven, And gave them just ordinances and true laws, Good statutes and commandments.You made known to them Your holy Sabbath, And commanded them precepts, statutes and laws, By the hand of Moses Your servant.

Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.

Thus you shall do to all the cities which are very far from you, which are not of the cities of these nations.“ But of the cities of these peoples which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance, you shall let nothing that breathes remain alive,

“ Notwithstanding, the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, and were not careful to observe My judgments,‘ which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; but they profaned My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the wilderness.

And He said to him,“ You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.”
