他們天天尋求我，好像渴慕認識我的律法，儼然像沒有丟棄他們上帝法令的正義之邦。他們向我求公義的判決，似乎渴慕到我面前。

人們出來看個究竟，到了耶穌那裡，發現那曾被鬼附身的人衣著整齊、神智清醒地坐在耶穌腳前，他們都很害怕。

主說：「這些人嘴上親近我，尊崇我，心卻遠離我。他們敬拜我不過是遵行人定的規條。

耶羅波安就吩咐妻子：「你喬裝改扮使人認不出你是我妻子，然後去示羅找那位預言我做王的先知亞希雅。你要帶十個餅、一些薄餅和一瓶蜂蜜去，他將告訴你孩子的病情會怎樣。」耶羅波安的妻子就照他的話做，前往示羅，來到亞希雅家。那時亞希雅因年紀老邁，眼睛已失明。耶和華預先告訴亞希雅說：「耶羅波安的妻子會喬裝成別的婦女，前來問你有關她兒子的病情，你要如此如此回答她。」她剛進門，亞希雅聽見她的腳步聲就說：「耶羅波安的妻子啊，你進來吧，為什麼喬裝改扮呢？我奉命告訴你一個噩耗。

他們派了自己的門徒跟希律黨人一同去問耶穌：「老師，我們知道你誠實無偽，按真理傳上帝的道，你不徇情面，不以貌取人。

那時，幾位以色列的長老到我這裡來，坐在我面前。耶和華對我說：「人子啊，這些人在心裡立起偶像，把導致犯罪的絆腳石放在自己面前，我豈能讓他們來求問？

以利沙對以色列王說：「我與你有什麼關係？你去問你父母的先知吧！」以色列王說：「不要這樣說，耶和華招聚我們三王，是要把我們交給摩押王！」

米該雅來到以色列王面前，王就問他：「米該雅啊，我可不可以去攻打基列的拉末？」米該雅回答說：「上去攻打吧，一定得勝，耶和華必將那城交在王手中。」王卻說：「我要囑咐你多少次，你才肯奉耶和華的名對我說實話呢？」米該雅說：「我看見以色列人四散在山上，好像沒有牧人的羊群一樣。耶和華說，『這些人沒有主人，讓他們各自平安地回家去吧。』」以色列王對約沙法說：「我不是告訴過你嗎？他給我的預言都是有凶無吉。」米該雅說：「你要聽耶和華的話。我看見耶和華坐在寶座上，眾天軍侍立在祂左右。耶和華說，『誰願意去引誘亞哈到基列的拉末去送死呢？』眾天軍議論紛紛。後來，有一個靈站出來對耶和華說他願意去。耶和華問他用什麼方法，他說，『我要做謊言之靈，進入他眾先知的口中。』耶和華說，『你必能成功，就這樣做吧。』現在，耶和華已經把謊言之靈放進這些先知口中，耶和華已決意降禍給你。」基拿拿的兒子西底迦聽了米該雅的話就上前打他的臉，說：「耶和華的靈怎會離開我向你說話呢？」米該雅說：「你躲進密室的那天就知道了。」以色列王下令說：「把米該雅交給亞們總督和約阿施王子，告訴他們，『王說，要把這人關在監牢，只給他一些餅和水，直到我平安地回來。』」米該雅說：「如果你能夠平安地回來，耶和華就沒有藉著我說話。」他又說：「眾民啊，你們都記住我的話。」

三天後，他們才在聖殿裡找到耶穌，祂正和教師們坐在一起，一邊聽一邊問問題。

瑪大的妹妹瑪麗亞坐在耶穌腳前聽道，

「人子啊，你的同胞在牆邊和門口彼此議論你說，『來，聽聽耶和華要他傳什麼信息。』他們隨著人群來到你面前，坐著聆聽你的話，儼然像我的子民。但他們不付諸實行，嘴裡說的是甜言蜜語，心中卻追求不義之財。他們只聽不做，你在他們眼中只不過是善唱情歌、長於彈奏樂器的人。看吧，我所說的必定應驗。當一切應驗的時候，他們就知道有先知在他們當中。」

後來，西底迦王派人把他帶到自己的宮中，私下問他：「耶和華有什麼話給你嗎？」耶利米說：「有，你要被交在巴比倫王手中。」
