Flee to the land of Judah. There eat bread, And there prophesy.But never again prophesy at Bethel, For it is the king’s sanctuary, And it is the royal residence.”Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah:“ I was no prophet, Nor was I a son of a prophet, But I was a sheepbreeder And a tender of sycamore fruit.Then the Lord took me as I followed the flock, And the Lord said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’Now therefore, hear the word of the Lord: You say,‘ Do not prophesy against Israel, And do not spout against the house of Isaac.’“ Therefore thus says the Lord:‘ Your wife shall be a harlot in the city; Your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; Your land shall be divided by survey line; You shall die in a defiled land; And Israel shall surely be led away captive From his own land.’”

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.

Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,

But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord, And of justice and might, To declare to Jacob his transgression And to Israel his sin.

“ And there shall no longer be a pricking brier or a painful thorn for the house of Israel from among all who are around them, who despise them. Then they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.”

Then they said,“ Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us attack him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.”

But the sons of rebellion shall all be as thorns thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with hands.But the man who touches them Must be armed with iron and the shaft of a spear, And they shall be utterly burned with fire in their place.”

But Peter and John answered and said to them,“ Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.

Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man.In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them.

“ Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, You people in whose heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, Nor be afraid of their insults.

They are all stubborn rebels, walking as slanderers. They are bronze and iron, They are all corrupters;
