Only the poorest people were left in the land.Nebuchadnezzar led King Jehoiachin away as a captive to Babylon, along with the queen mother, his wives and officials, and all Jerusalem’s elite.He also exiled 7,000 of the best troops and 1,000 craftsmen and artisans, all of whom were strong and fit for war.

O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

I will bring you into the wilderness of the nations, and there I will judge you face to face.

He was kind to Jehoiachin and released him from prison on March 31 of that year.

God places the lonely in families; he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy. But he makes the rebellious live in a sun scorched land.
