He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign Lord.

遵我禮儀、守我法度、真實無妄、斯為義人、必保其生、我耶和華已言之矣。

遵我律例、守我法度、以誠實而行、斯為義人、必保其生命、必保其生命或作必得生存此乃主天主所言、

He obeys my rules. He is faithful in keeping my laws. He always does what is right. You can be sure he will live,” announces the Lord and King.

I gave them my decrees and made known to them my laws, by which the person who obeys them will live.

This is what the Lord says to Israel:“ Seek me and live;

He withholds his hand from mistreating the poor and takes no interest or profit from them. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his father’s sin; he will surely live.

“ See, the enemy is puffed up; his desires are not upright— but the righteous person will live by his faithfulness—

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed— a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written:“ The righteous will live by faith.”

And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul,and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?

if they give back what they took in pledge for a loan, return what they have stolen, follow the decrees that give life, and do no evil— that person will surely live; they will not die.

But someone will say,“ You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that— and shudder.You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.And the scripture was fulfilled that says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

So I strive always to keep my conscience clear before God and man.

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.

But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!

Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart—they do no wrong but follow his ways.You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed.Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands.

Now, Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land the Lord, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.

he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for—that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws. Praise the Lord.

These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess,so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.

Seek good, not evil, that you may live. Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.

Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly.

“‘ Yet the people of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not follow my decrees but rejected my laws— by which the person who obeys them will live— and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and destroy them in the wilderness.

“‘ My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd. They will follow my laws and be careful to keep my decrees.

Moses summoned all Israel and said: Hear, Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them.

And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

“ You came down on Mount Sinai; you spoke to them from heaven. You gave them regulations and laws that are just and right, and decrees and commands that are good.You made known to them your holy Sabbath and gave them commands, decrees and laws through your servant Moses.

The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord.

He answered,“‘ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and,‘ Love your neighbor as yourself.’”“ You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied.“ Do this and you will live.”But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirrorand, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it— not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it— they will be blessed in what they do.

The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior.Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob.

Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commands always.
