And he does not eat at the mountain temples. He does not worship the statues of Israel’s gods. He does not sleep with another man’s wife. He does not have sex with his own wife during her monthly period.

未曾在山上吃祭物，未曾向以色列家的偶像举目；未曾污辱邻舍的妻，也未曾在妇人的经期间亲近她；

不在山上的庙宇里吃祭物，不拜以色列的偶像，不玷污别人的妻子，不亲近经期中的妇女；

他不在山上吃祭肉，眼目也不仰望以色列家的偶像，不玷污邻舍的妻子，不亲近在经期中的妇人；

未食於山、未瞻仰以色列家之偶像、未污其鄰之妻、未近天癸之婦、

不食岡巒之祭品、不敬以色列族所崇偶像、不淫人妻、妻癸水至、不與同寢、

不食於山上獻偶像之祭物、不舉目於於或作仰望以色列族之偶像、不淫人妻、妻行經時、不與親近、

He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor’s wife or have sexual relations with a woman during her period.

if he does not eat upon the mountains or lift up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, does not defile his neighbor’s wife or approach a woman in her time of menstrual impurity,

He does not feast in the mountains before Israel’s idols or worship them. He does not commit adultery or have intercourse with a woman during her menstrual period.

He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her menstrual impurity.

if he does not eat at the mountain shrines or raise his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, or defile his neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her menstrual period—

If he has not eaten on the mountains, Nor lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, Nor defiled his neighbor’s wife, Nor approached a woman during her impurity;

and hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbor’s wife, neither hath come near to a woman in her impurity,

He does not eat at the mountain shrines or raise his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor’s wife or come near a woman during her menstrual impurity.

[ And] hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,

does not eat pagan sacrifices on the mountains or pray to the idols of the house of Israel, does not defile his neighbor’s wife, does not have sexual relations with a woman during her period,

and has not eaten on the mountains, hasn’t lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hasn’t defiled his neighbor’s wife, hasn’t come near a woman in her impurity,

“ Suppose he does not eat at the mountain temples. And he does not worship the statues of Israel’s gods. He does not sleep with another man’s wife.

When you look up at the heavens, you will see the sun and moon. And you will see huge numbers of stars. Don’t let anyone tempt you to bow down to the sun, moon or stars. Don’t worship things the Lord your God has provided for all the nations on earth.

Then they will know that I am the Lord. Their people will lie dead among the statues of their gods around their altars. Their bodies will lie on every high hill and every mountaintop. They will lie under every green tree and leafy oak tree. They used to offer sweet- smelling incense to all their gods at those places.

They had not obeyed my laws. They had turned their backs on my rules. They had misused my Sabbath days. They only wanted to worship the statues of their parents’ gods.

You have spread lies about others so you can spill someone’s blood. You eat at the mountain temples. You commit impure acts.You bring shame on your fathers by having sex with their wives. You have sex with women during their monthly period. That is when they are‘ unclean.’One of you has sex with another man’s wife. I hate that sin. Another brings shame on his daughter- in- law by having sex with her. Still another has sex with his sister, even though she is his own father’s daughter.

Suppose he does these things even though his father never did.“ Suppose the son eats at the mountain temples. And he sleeps with another man’s wife.He treats poor and needy people badly. He steals. He does not pay back what he owes. He worships statues of gods. He does other things I hate.

“‘ Suppose a man has sex with a woman during her monthly period. He has uncovered the place where her bleeding was coming from. And she has let him do it. So both of them must be separated from their people.

“‘ Do not have sex with a woman during her monthly period. She is“ unclean” at that time.“‘ Do not have sex with your neighbor’s wife. That would make you“ unclean.”

I look up to the mountains. Where does my help come from?

“‘ Suppose a man commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife. Then the man and the woman must be put to death.

Don’t you know that people who do wrong will not receive God’s kingdom? Don’t be fooled. Those who commit sexual sins will not receive the kingdom. Neither will those who worship statues of gods or commit adultery. Neither will men who sleep with other men.Neither will thieves or those who always want more and more. Neither will those who are often drunk or tell lies or cheat. People who live like that will not receive God’s kingdom.Some of you used to do those things. But your sins were washed away. You were made holy. You were made right with God. All of this was done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It was also done by the Spirit of our God.

The result of sin’s control in our lives is clear. It includes sexual sins, impure acts and wild living.It includes worshiping statues of gods and worshiping evil powers. It also includes hatred and fighting, jealousy and fits of anger. Sinful desire is interested only in getting ahead. It stirs up trouble. It separates people into their own little groups.It wants what others have. It gets drunk and takes part in wild parties. It does many things of that kind. I warn you now as I did before. People who live like this will not receive God’s kingdom.

But I brought them into the land. I had promised to give the land to them. Then they offered sacrifices that made me very angry. They did it on every high hill and under every green tree. There they brought their sweet- smelling incense. And there they poured out their drink offerings.

But here is what I tell you. Do not even look at a woman in the wrong way. Anyone who does has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Suppose a man is seen sleeping with another man’s wife. Then the man and the woman must both die. Get rid of those evil people.Suppose a man happens to see a virgin in a town. And she has promised to marry another man. But the man who happens to see her sleeps with her.Then you must take both of them to the gate of that town. You must put them to death by throwing stones at them. You must kill the young woman because she was in a town and didn’t scream for help. And you must kill the man because he slept with another man’s wife. Get rid of those evil people.But suppose a man happens to see a young woman out in the country. And she has promised to marry another man. But the man who happens to see her rapes her. Then only the man who has done that will die.Don’t do anything to the woman. She hasn’t committed a sin worthy of death. That case is like the case of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor.The man found the young woman out in the country. And she screamed for help. But there wasn’t anyone around who could save her.Suppose a man happens to see a virgin who hasn’t promised to marry another man. And the man who happens to see her rapes her. But someone discovers them.Then the man must weigh out 20 ounces of silver. He must give it to her father. The man must marry the young woman, because he raped her. And he can never divorce her as long as he lives.A man must not marry his stepmother. He must not bring shame on his father by sleeping with her.

I said to them,‘ Each of you must get rid of the statues of the evil gods you worship. Do not make yourselves“ unclean” by worshiping the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’

So tell them,‘ The Lord and King says,“ You eat meat that still has blood in it. You worship your statues of gods. You commit murder. So should you still possess the land?You depend on your swords. You do things I hate. Each one of you sleeps with your neighbor’s wife. So should you still possess the land?” ’

“ Be careful not to make a peace treaty with the people living in the land. They commit sin by offering sacrifices to their gods. They will invite you to eat their sacrifices, and you will do it.

All of you should honor marriage. You should keep the marriage bed pure. God will judge the person who commits adultery. He will judge everyone who commits sexual sins.

No! But what is sacrificed by those who worship statues of gods is really sacrificed to demons. It is not sacrificed to God. I don’t want you to be sharing with demons.

The women invited the men to feasts and sacrifices to honor their gods. The people ate the sacrifices and bowed down in front of the statues of those gods.

I look up and pray to you. Your throne is in heaven.Slaves depend on their masters. A female slave depends on the woman she works for. In the same way, we depend on the Lord our God. We wait for him to have mercy on us.

Your people are like stallions that have plenty to eat. Their sinful desires are out of control. Each of them goes after another man’s wife.Shouldn’t I punish them for this?” announces the Lord.“ Shouldn’t I pay back the nation that does these things?
