“ But if a man is just, and does that which is lawful and right,

“ Suppose there is a righteous man who does what is just and right.

“ Suppose there is a godly man who does what is fair and right.

“ If a man is righteous and does what is just and right—

“ Suppose a certain man is righteous and does what is just and right.

“ But if a man is righteous and practices justice and righteousness,

But if a man is just And does what is lawful and right;

But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,

“ Now suppose a man is righteous and does what is just and right:

“ Suppose a man is righteous. He practices what is just and right,

He who has clean hands and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood, and has not sworn deceitfully.He shall receive a blessing from Yahweh, righteousness from the God of his salvation.This is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek your face— even Jacob. Selah.

to those who by perseverance in well- doing seek for glory, honor, and incorruptibility, eternal life;but to those who are self- seeking, and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath, indignation,oppression, and anguish on every soul of man who does evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.But glory, honor, and peace go to every man who does good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Not everyone who says to me,‘ Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.Many will tell me in that day,‘ Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?’Then I will tell them,‘ I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.’“ Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it didn’t fall, for it was founded on the rock.Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn’t do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand.The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell— and great was its fall.”

If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him.

“ Should you reign, because you strive to excel in cedar? Didn’t your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him.

This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments.

Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of Yahweh, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that Yahweh may bring on Abraham that which he has spoken of him.”

Blessed are those who do his commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart;he who doesn’t slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor casts slurs against his fellow man;in whose eyes a vile man is despised, but who honors those who fear Yahweh; he who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and doesn’t change;he who doesn’t lend out his money for usury, nor take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be shaken.

To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice.

Again, when I say to the wicked,“ You will surely die;” if he turns from his sin, and does that which is lawful and right;

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.For this is loving God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food,and one of you tells them,“ Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;” yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it?Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.Yes, a man will say,“ You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works.You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder.But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead?Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected.So the Scripture was fulfilled which says,“ Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God.You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith.In the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers and sent them out another way?For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.
