As I live, declares the Lord God, this proverb shall no more be used by you in Israel.

主耶和华说：“我指着我的永生起誓，你们在以色列中，必不再有用这俗语的因由。

“ As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel.

“ You will not use that proverb in Israel anymore,” announces the Lord and King.“ And that is just as sure as I am alive.

As surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, you will not quote this proverb anymore in Israel.

As I live”— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD—“ you will no longer use this proverb in Israel.

As I live,” declares the Lord God,“ you certainly are not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore.

“ As I live,” says the Lord GOD,“ you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel.

As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.

As I live”— this is the declaration of the Lord God—“ you will no longer use this proverb in Israel.

[ As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have[ occasion] any more to use this proverb in Israel.

“ As surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, you will not quote this proverb in Israel anymore!

“ As I live,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ you shall not use this proverb any more in Israel.

“ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.

“ Yet you say,‘ Why should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done what is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, he shall surely live.The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.

Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?“ And you, son of man, say to your people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him when he transgresses, and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall by it when he turns from his wickedness, and the righteous shall not be able to live by his righteousness when he sins.Though I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, yet if he trusts in his righteousness and does injustice, none of his righteous deeds shall be remembered, but in his injustice that he has done he shall die.Again, though I say to the wicked,‘ You shall surely die,’ yet if he turns from his sin and does what is just and right,if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has taken by robbery, and walks in the statutes of life, not doing injustice, he shall surely live; he shall not die.None of the sins that he has committed shall be remembered against him. He has done what is just and right; he shall surely live.“ Yet your people say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just,’ when it is their own way that is not just.When the righteous turns from his righteousness and does injustice, he shall die for it.And when the wicked turns from his wickedness and does what is just and right, he shall live by this.Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ O house of Israel, I will judge each of you according to his ways.”

Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God.

Then you will remember your evil ways, and your deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves for your iniquities and your abominations.It is not for your sake that I will act, declares the Lord God; let that be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your ways, O house of Israel.
