“ Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear, you Israelites: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?

「你們還說：『主的道不公平！』以色列家啊，你們當聽，我的道豈不公平嗎？你們的道豈不是不公平嗎？

「你們卻說：『主的道不公平！』以色列家啊，你們要聽，我的道不公平嗎？你們的道不是不公平嗎？

「你們卻說：『主的道不公平！』以色列家啊，你們要聽，我的道不公平嗎？你們的道不是不公平嗎？

「你們說，主這樣做不公平。以色列人啊，你們聽著，是我的做法不公平呢？還是你們的做法不公平呢？

“你們還說：‘主所行的不公平。’以色列家啊，你們要聽！我所行的哪裡不公平呢？豈不是你們所行的不公平嗎？

『你們還說：「主所行的不公正。」以色列家啊，你們要聽！我所行的哪裏是不公正呢？豈不是你們所行的不公正麼？

惟爾曹云、主道不公、以色列家其聽之、我之道、豈非公乎、爾之道、豈非不公乎、

爾言我耶和華所行、不尚正直、以色列族宜聽我言、我所行者、惟秉大公、爾所為者、尚存偏頗。

爾曹猶言主之道不公平、不公平或作不相宜下同以色列族聽歟、我之道豈不公平、惟爾曹之道不公平、

“ But you say,‘ What the Lord does isn’t fair.’ Listen to me, you Israelites. What I do is always fair. What you do is not.

“ Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ Hear now, O house of Israel: Is my way not just? Is it not your ways that are not just?

“ Yet you say,‘ The Lord isn’t doing what’s right!’ Listen to me, O people of Israel. Am I the one not doing what’s right, or is it you?

“ But you say,‘ The Lord’s way isn’t fair.’ Now listen, house of Israel: Is it my way that is unfair? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair?

Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not right.’ Hear now, house of Israel! Is My way not right? Is it not your ways that are not right?

“ Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair?

Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel: Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

“ But you say,‘ The Lord’s way isn’t fair.’ Now listen, house of Israel: Is it My way that is unfair? Instead, isn’t it your ways that are unfair?

Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

“ Yet you say,‘ The Lord’s conduct is unjust!’ Hear, O house of Israel: Is my conduct unjust? Is it not your conduct that is unjust?

“ Yet you say,‘ The way of the Lord is not equal.’ Hear now, house of Israel: Is my way not equal? Aren’t your ways unequal?

“ You have spoken arrogantly against me,” says the Lord.“ Yet you ask,‘ What have we said against you?’“ You have said,‘ It is futile to serve God. What do we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty?But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly evildoers prosper, and even when they put God to the test, they get away with it.’”

“ Yet your people say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ But it is their way that is not just.

Far be it from you to do such a thing— to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

You are always righteous, Lord, when I bring a case before you. Yet I would speak with you about your justice: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all the faithless live at ease?

Yet you Israelites say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ But I will judge each of you according to your own ways.”

You have wearied the Lord with your words.“ How have we wearied him?” you ask. By saying,“ All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them” or“ Where is the God of justice?”

The Lord within her is righteous; he does no wrong. Morning by morning he dispenses his justice, and every new day he does not fail, yet the unrighteous know no shame.

Yet the Israelites say,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ Are my ways unjust, people of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.

But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God?“ Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,‘ Why did you make me like this?’”

And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for he is a God of justice.

“ You said,‘ Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”

But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us?( I am using a human argument.)

Have you not brought this on yourselves by forsaking the Lord your God when he led you in the way?Now why go to Egypt to drink water from the Nile? And why go to Assyria to drink water from the Euphrates?Your wickedness will punish you; your backsliding will rebuke you. Consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you when you forsake the Lord your God and have no awe of me,” declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.“ Long ago you broke off your yoke and tore off your bonds; you said,‘ I will not serve you!’ Indeed, on every high hill and under every spreading tree you lay down as a prostitute.I had planted you like a choice vine of sound and reliable stock. How then did you turn against me into a corrupt, wild vine?Although you wash yourself with soap and use an abundance of cleansing powder, the stain of your guilt is still before me,” declares the Sovereign Lord.“ How can you say,‘ I am not defiled; I have not run after the Baals’? See how you behaved in the valley; consider what you have done. You are a swift she-camel running here and there,

The Lord is righteous in all his ways and faithful in all he does.

“ Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?

“ Do you think this is just? You say,‘ I am in the right, not God.’

When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner.‘ These who were hired last worked only one hour,’ they said,‘ and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.’“ But he answered one of them,‘ I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius?Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you.Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

But Elihu son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, became very angry with Job for justifying himself rather than God.

When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.

“ Job says,‘ I am innocent, but God denies me justice.Although I am right, I am considered a liar; although I am guiltless, his arrow inflicts an incurable wound.’Is there anyone like Job, who drinks scorn like water?He keeps company with evildoers; he associates with the wicked.For he says,‘ There is no profit in trying to please God.’“ So listen to me, you men of understanding. Far be it from God to do evil, from the Almighty to do wrong.

“ Why do you bring charges against me? You have all rebelled against me,” declares the Lord.“ In vain I punished your people; they did not respond to correction. Your sword has devoured your prophets like a ravenous lion.“ You of this generation, consider the word of the Lord:“ Have I been a desert to Israel or a land of great darkness? Why do my people say,‘ We are free to roam; we will come to you no more’?Does a young woman forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments? Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.How skilled you are at pursuing love! Even the worst of women can learn from your ways.On your clothes is found the lifeblood of the innocent poor, though you did not catch them breaking in. Yet in spite of all thisyou say,‘ I am innocent; he is not angry with me.’ But I will pass judgment on you because you say,‘ I have not sinned.’Why do you go about so much, changing your ways? You will be disappointed by Egypt as you were by Assyria.You will also leave that place with your hands on your head, for the Lord has rejected those you trust; you will not be helped by them.

“ When you tell these people all this and they ask you,‘ Why has the Lord decreed such a great disaster against us? What wrong have we done? What sin have we committed against the Lord our God?’then say to them,‘ It is because your ancestors forsook me,’ declares the Lord,‘ and followed other gods and served and worshiped them. They forsook me and did not keep my law.But you have behaved more wickedly than your ancestors. See how all of you are following the stubbornness of your evil hearts instead of obeying me.So I will throw you out of this land into a land neither you nor your ancestors have known, and there you will serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’

Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness.

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.God“ will repay each person according to what they have done.”
