He withholds his hand from mistreating the poor and takes no interest or profit from them. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his father’s sin; he will surely live.

He keeps himself from committing sins. He does not charge interest when he lends money to poor people. He does not make money from them. He keeps my laws and obeys my rules. He will not die because of his father’s sin. You can be sure he will live.

Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?

I[ was] a father to the poor: and the cause[ which] I knew not I searched out.

Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that[ ye] commit not[ any one] of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I[ am] the LORD your God.

Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not,[ neither] ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.

The righteous considereth the cause of the poor:[ but] the wicked regardeth not to know[ it].

He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then[ it was] well[ with him: was] not this to know me? saith the LORD.

O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and[ things] wherein[ there is] no profit.

Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit[ any] of these abominations;[ neither] any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:

Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.

[ If] the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
