He withholds his hand from mistreating the poor and takes no interest or profit from them. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his father’s sin; he will surely live.

He keeps himself from committing sins. He does not charge interest when he lends money to poor people. He does not make money from them. He keeps my laws and obeys my rules. He will not die because of his father’s sin. You can be sure he will live.

The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.“ But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

Because he considered and turned away from all the transgressions that he had committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts. But you say,‘ How shall we return?’

And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt.But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying,‘ Pay what you owe.’So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him,‘ Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt.When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place.Then his master summoned him and said to him,‘ You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt.So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”

“ Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Will you defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers and go whoring after their detestable things?

I was a father to the needy, and I searched out the cause of him whom I did not know.

So keep my charge never to practice any of these abominable customs that were practiced before you, and never to make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.”

then you shall say to them:‘ Because your fathers have forsaken me, declares the Lord, and have gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law,and because you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, every one of you follows his stubborn, evil will, refusing to listen to me.Therefore I will hurl you out of this land into a land that neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.’

A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.

He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Is not this to know me? declares the Lord.

You shall follow my rules and keep my statutes and walk in them. I am the Lord your God.

Though I say to the righteous that he shall surely live, yet if he trusts in his righteousness and does injustice, none of his righteous deeds shall be remembered, but in his injustice that he has done he shall die.

“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous,saying,‘ If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’Thus you witness against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers.You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?

O Lord, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say:“ Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit.

Therefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable to you: break off your sins by practicing righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the oppressed, that there may perhaps be a lengthening of your prosperity.”

But you shall keep my statutes and my rules and do none of these abominations, either the native or the stranger who sojourns among you

lends at interest, and takes profit; shall he then live? He shall not live. He has done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon himself.

if the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has taken by robbery, and walks in the statutes of life, not doing injustice, he shall surely live; he shall not die.None of the sins that he has committed shall be remembered against him. He has done what is just and right; he shall surely live.

Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.
