So Nebuchadnezzar will build ramps against the walls of Jerusalem. He will set up war machines to destroy many lives. Pharaoh will not be able to help Zedekiah during the war. The huge and mighty army of Egypt will not be of any help.

「耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：你們要對派你們來求問我的猶大王如此說：『看哪，那出來幫助你們的法老軍隊必回埃及本國去。

「埃及所有的居民必定知道我是耶和華。因為你已成為以色列家蘆葦的杖；他們用手掌一握，你就斷裂，傷了他們的肩；他們靠着你，你卻折斷，閃了他們的腰。

看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那斷裂的葦杖，人若倚靠這杖，它就刺進他的手，穿透它。埃及王法老向所有倚靠他的人都是這樣。

你要圍攻這城，築堡壘，建土堆，安營攻擊，周圍設撞城槌攻城，

法老的軍隊已經從埃及出來，那圍困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人聽見這風聲，就拔營離開耶路撒冷去了。

我們的眼目徒然仰望幫助，以致失明，我們從瞭望臺所守望的，竟是一個不能救人的國！

他作王第九年十月初十，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領全軍前來攻擊耶路撒冷，對着城安營，四圍築堡壘攻城，

他們與迦勒底人爭戰，用我在怒氣和憤怒中所殺之人的屍首塞滿這房屋；我因他們一切的惡，轉臉不顧這城。
