看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那断裂的苇杖，人若倚靠这杖，它就刺进他的手，穿透它。埃及王法老向所有倚靠他的人都是这样。

你要围攻这城，筑堡垒，建土堆，安营攻击，周围设撞城槌攻城，

法老的军队已经从埃及出来，那围困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人听见这风声，就拔营离开耶路撒冷去了。

我们的眼目徒然仰望帮助，以致失明，我们从瞭望台所守望的，竟是一个不能救人的国！

他作王第九年十月初十，巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒率领全军前来攻击耶路撒冷，对着城安营，四围筑堡垒攻城，

他们与迦勒底人争战，用我在怒气和愤怒中所杀之人的尸首塞满这房屋；我因他们一切的恶，转脸不顾这城。
