So Nebuchadnezzar will build ramps against the walls of Jerusalem. He will set up war machines to destroy many lives. Pharaoh will not be able to help Zedekiah during the war. The huge and mighty army of Egypt will not be of any help.

“耶和華以色列的神這樣說：你們要對差派你們來求問我的猶大王這樣說：‘看哪！那出來幫助你們的法老的軍隊，必回到他們的埃及本地去。

埃及所有的居民就都知道我是耶和華。因為你作了以色列家蘆葦的杖。他們用手抓住你的時候，你就斷裂，傷了他們的肩頭；他們倚靠你，你就折斷、扭傷了他們的腰。

看哪！你所倚靠的埃及，是那壓傷的蘆葦杖；人若倚靠它，它就會插進他的手，把手刺透。埃及王法老對所有倚靠他的人，也是這樣。

然後安放圍城設施，建造圍城高牆，築起攻城土壘，擺列兵營，四周架起攻城鎚。

法老的軍隊已經從埃及出來；那些圍困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人聽見了他們的風聲，就從耶路撒冷撤退了。

我們徒然等待幫助，等到雙目失去視力；我們在瞭望臺上期望一個不能拯救我們的國家來臨。

西底家作王第九年十月十日，巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒率領他的全軍來攻打耶路撒冷；他們在城外安營，又在四周築壘攻城。

‘這城的居民出去和迦勒底人爭戰，就必使這些房屋充滿死屍，就是我在怒氣和烈怒中擊殺的。因為他們的一切惡行，我掩面不顧這城。
