乃王子背巴比倫王約、遣使至埃及、欲其率軍馬以至、彼行是事、豈能亨通、豈能免難、爽約之人、豈能獲救。

因此耶和华的怒气在耶路撒冷和犹大发作，以致将人民从自己面前赶出。

尼布甲尼撒曾使他指着神起誓，他却背叛，强项硬心，不归服耶和华以色列的神。

“又有一大鹰，翅膀大，羽毛多。这葡萄树从栽种的畦中向这鹰弯过根来，发出枝子，好得它的浇灌。

只是王不可为自己加添马匹，也不可使百姓回埃及去，为要加添他的马匹，因耶和华曾吩咐你们说：‘不可再回那条路去。’

你若不出去归降巴比伦王的首领，这城必交在迦勒底人手中。他们必用火焚烧，你也不得脱离他们的手。”

你必不能逃脱他的手，定被拿住，交在他的手中。你的眼要见巴比伦王的眼，他要口对口和你说话，你也必到巴比伦去。’

因此耶和华的怒气在耶路撒冷和犹大发作，以致将人民从自己的面前赶出。

他轻看誓言，背弃盟约，已经投降，却又做这一切的事，他必不能逃脱。”

人必将你的后妃和你的儿女带到迦勒底人那里；你也不得脱离他们的手，必被巴比伦王的手捉住；你也必使这城被火焚烧。’”

你要说，主耶和华如此说：这葡萄树岂能发旺呢？鹰岂不拔出它的根来，芟除它的果子，使它枯干，使它发的嫩叶都枯干了吗？也不用大力和多民，就拔出它的根来。

法老的军队已经从埃及出来，那围困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人听见他们的风声，就拔营离开耶路撒冷去了。耶和华的话临到先知耶利米说：“耶和华以色列的神如此说：犹大王打发你们来求问我，你们要如此对他说：‘那出来帮助你们法老的军队必回埃及本国去。

犹大王西底家必不能逃脱迦勒底人的手，定要交在巴比伦王的手中，要口对口彼此说话，眼对眼彼此相看。

你这受死伤行恶的以色列王啊，罪孽的尽头到了，受报的日子已到。

我们若忽略这么大的救恩，怎能逃罪呢？这救恩起先是主亲自讲的，后来是听见的人给我们证实了。

为要你顺从耶和华你神今日与你所立的约，向你所起的誓。这样，他要照他向你所应许的话，又向你列祖亚伯拉罕、以撒、雅各所起的誓，今日立你作他的子民，他作你的神。我不但与你们立这约，起这誓，凡与我们一同站在耶和华我们神面前的，并今日不在我们这里的人，我也与他们立这约，起这誓。

耶和华说：“祸哉！这悖逆的儿女。他们同谋，却不由于我，结盟，却不由于我的灵，以致罪上加罪；起身下埃及去，并没有求问我；要靠法老的力量加添自己的力量，并投在埃及的荫下。所以，法老的力量必作你们的羞辱；投在埃及的荫下，要为你们的惭愧。他们的首领已在琐安；他们的使臣到了哈内斯。

神啊，你必使恶人下入灭亡的坑；流人血、行诡诈的人必活不到半世，但我要倚靠你。

祸哉！那些下埃及求帮助的，是因仗赖马匹，倚靠甚多的车辆，并倚靠强壮的马兵，却不仰望以色列的圣者，也不求问耶和华。其实，耶和华有智慧；他必降灾祸，并不反悔自己的话，却要兴起攻击那作恶之家，又攻击那作孽帮助人的。埃及人不过是人，并不是神；他们的马不过是血肉，并不是灵。耶和华一伸手，那帮助人的必绊跌，那受帮助的也必跌倒，都一同灭亡。

地啊，地啊，地啊，当听耶和华的话！耶和华如此说：“要写明这人算为无子，是平生不得亨通的；因为他后裔中再无一人得亨通，能坐在大卫的宝座上治理犹大。”

你们这些蛇类、毒蛇之种啊，怎能逃脱地狱的刑罚呢？

作假见证的，必不免受罚；吐出谎言的，终不能逃脱。

看哪，你所倚靠的埃及是那压伤的苇杖，人若靠这杖，就必刺透他的手。埃及王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是这样。你若对我说：我们倚靠耶和华我们的神。希西家岂不是将神的邱坛和祭坛废去，且对犹大和耶路撒冷的人说：你们当在这坛前敬拜吗？现在你把当头给我主亚述王，我给你二千匹马，看你这一面骑马的人够不够。若不然，怎能打败我主臣仆中最小的军长呢？你竟倚靠埃及的战车马兵吗？
