你所有的后妃和你的兒女，都必被帶出來，去到迦勒底人那裡；你自己也不能從他們的手裡逃脫，因為你必被巴比倫王的手抓住；這城也必被火燒毀（“這城也必被火燒毀”有古抄本作“你必放火燒毀這城”）。”

你要說：‘主耶和華這樣說：這葡萄樹怎能茂盛呢？鷹不是要拔出它的根來，啄光它的果子，使它和它長出的一切嫩葉都枯乾嗎？其實，要把它連根拔起，並不需要很多人或很大的氣力。

法老的軍隊已經從埃及出來；那些圍困耶路撒冷的迦勒底人聽見了他們的風聲，就從耶路撒冷撤退了。那時，耶和華的話臨到耶利米先知，“耶和華以色列的神這樣說：你們要對差派你們來求問我的猶大王這樣說：‘看哪！那出來幫助你們的法老的軍隊，必回到他們的埃及本地去。

猶大王西底家必不能逃脫迦勒底人的手，他必交在巴比倫王的手中；他們必面對面彼此說話，眼對眼互相對看。

你這該死、邪惡的以色列王啊！你的日子到了，最後懲罰的時刻到了。’

如果我們忽略了這麼大的救恩，怎麼能逃罪呢？這救恩起初是由主親自宣講的，後來聽見的人給我們證實了。

為要叫你遵守耶和華你的神今日與你所立的約，和他向你所起的誓；這樣，他今日可以立你作他的子民，他可以作你的神，正如他曾經對你說過的，又對你的列祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起過誓的。“我不但與你們立這約，起這誓；而且也與那些今日和我們在這裡，一同站在耶和華我們的神面前的人，以及那些今日不與我們同在這裡的人立這約，起這誓。

耶和華說：“這些悖逆的兒女有禍了！他們實行計謀，卻不是出於我的意思，他們結盟，卻不是出於我的靈，以致罪上加罪。他們起程下埃及去，並沒有求問我，卻要在法老的保護下，作避難處，投靠在埃及的蔭庇下。因此，法老的保護必成為你們的羞恥，投靠在埃及的蔭庇下，變成你們的恥辱。他們的領袖雖然已在瑣安，他們的使臣雖然已到達哈內斯，

神啊！你必使惡人墮入滅亡的深坑裡；流人血和行詭詐的人必活不到半世；至於我，我必倚靠你。

那些下埃及求幫助，倚靠馬匹，倚靠眾多戰車，依靠十分強壯的馬兵，卻不仰望以色列的聖者，也不求問耶和華的，有禍了！耶和華是智慧的，他必降下災禍，決不收回自己的話，卻要起來攻擊作惡者之家，又攻擊那些助人作孽的。埃及人是人，並不是神；他們的馬匹是血肉，並不是靈；耶和華一伸手，那幫助人的就絆倒，那受幫助的也必仆倒，並且一同滅亡。

大地啊！大地啊！大地啊！要聽耶和華的話。耶和華這樣說：“你們要寫下，這人算為無子，他的一生毫無成就；因為他的後裔中沒有一人可以成功，能坐在大衛的王位上，再次統治猶大。”

你們這些蛇，這些毒蛇所生的啊，你們怎能逃脫地獄的刑罰呢？

作假見證的必難免受懲罰；吐出謊言的必不能逃脫。

看哪！你所倚靠的埃及，是那壓傷的蘆葦杖；人若倚靠它，它就會插進他的手，把手刺透。埃及王法老對所有倚靠他的人，也是這樣。你若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華我們的神，這神所有的邱壇和祭壇豈不是都給希西家廢去了，他還對猶大和耶路撒冷的人說：你們只要在這祭壇面前敬拜嗎？現在你可以與我的主人亞述王打賭：我給你二千匹馬，看你這一方面能否派出足夠騎馬的人來。若不能，你怎能擊退我主的臣僕中最小的軍長呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車和馬兵嗎？
