Behold, though it is planted, will it thrive? Will it not completely wither as soon as the east wind strikes it— wither on the beds where it grew?” ’ ”

葡萄树虽然栽种，岂能发旺呢？一经东风，岂不全然枯干吗？必在生长的畦中枯干了。”

看哪，葡萄树虽然栽种了，岂能发旺呢？一经东风击打，岂不全然枯干了吗？它必在生长的苗圃中枯干了。”

这树虽然被栽种了，又岂能长得茂盛呢？东风一吹，它岂不完全枯萎在园圃中了吗？’”

看哪！葡萄树被栽种了，但它能发旺吗？东风吹袭它的时候，它不是必然枯干吗？它必在生长的苗床上枯干。’”

葡萄樹雖然栽種，豈能發旺呢？一經東風，豈不全然枯乾嗎？必在生長的畦中枯乾了。」

看哪，葡萄樹固然是被移植了，然而哪能發旺呢？東風一擊打它，它哪能不全然枯乾呢？它必定在它寄生的苗床上枯乾掉的。』

雖種植之、詎得繁盛、豈不於所植之畦、為東風所搖撼、而盡枯槁乎、○

葡萄雖為人所植、不復向榮於園囿之中、為東風來搖撼、盡為枯槁。

葡萄樹雖得栽植、豈能發旺乎、東風擊之、立即枯槁、必於栽植之處枯槁、○

But when the vine is transplanted, will it thrive? No, it will wither away when the east wind blows against it. It will die in the same good soil where it had grown so well.”

Though he flourishes among the reeds, An east wind will come, The wind of the Lord coming up from the wilderness; And his fountain will become dry And his spring will dry up; It will plunder his treasury of every precious article.

And seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves alone; and He* said to it,“ No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you.” And at once the fig tree withered.

As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up.

But it was uprooted in fury; It was thrown down to the ground; And the east wind dried up its fruit. Its strong stem was torn out So that it withered; The fire consumed it.And now it is planted in the wilderness, In a dry and thirsty land.And fire has gone out from its stem; It has consumed its shoots and fruit, So that there is no strong stem in it, A scepter to rule.’ ” This is a song of mourning, and has become a song of mourning.
