“ When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” says the Lord God.

主耶和華曰、我過而見汝、若女及笄、我以裾覆爾、締結姻盟、于歸乎我。

主天主曰、我從爾旁經過以觀爾、見爾已長、可以于歸、遂以衣裾覆爾、遮爾赤體、向爾發誓、與爾結盟、俾爾歸於我、

“‘ Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

“‘ “Later, I was passing by again. I looked at you. I saw that you were old enough for love. So I married you and took good care of you. I covered your naked body. I made a firm promise to you. I entered into a covenant with you. And you became mine,” announces the Lord and King.

“ When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord God, and you became mine.

And when I passed by again, I saw that you were old enough for love. So I wrapped my cloak around you to cover your nakedness and declared my marriage vows. I made a covenant with you, says the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

“‘ Then I passed by you and saw you, and you were indeed at the age for love. So I spread the edge of my garment over you and covered your nakedness. I pledged myself to you, entered into a covenant with you— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD— and you became mine.

“ Then I passed by you and saw you, and behold, you were at the time for love; so I spread My garment over you and covered your nakedness. I also swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you so that you became Mine,” declares the Lord God.

“‘“ Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ and you became mine.

And he said,“ Who are you?” So she answered,“ I am Ruth, your maidservant. Take your maidservant under your wing, for you are a close relative.”

Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life.

“ Go and cry in the hearing of Jerusalem, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord:“ I remember you, The kindness of your youth, The love of your betrothal, When you went after Me in the wilderness, In a land not sown.Israel was holiness to the Lord, The firstfruits of His increase. All that devour him will offend; Disaster will come upon them,” says the Lord.’”

‘ You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the Lord commanded him.Then all the people answered together and said,“ All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the Lord.

“ For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples;but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them,‘ I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’”

( for the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.

“ And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood,‘ Live!’ Yes, I said to you in your blood,‘ Live!’

For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people.

“ Say to them,‘ Thus says the Lord God:“ On the day when I chose Israel and raised My hand in an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, I raised My hand in an oath to them, saying,‘ I am the Lord your God.’On that day I raised My hand in an oath to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them,‘ flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands.

Now He said to Moses,“ Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, and worship from afar.And Moses alone shall come near the Lord, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him.”So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said,“ All the words which the Lord has said we will do.”And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel.Then he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord.And Moses took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar.Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said,“ All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.”And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said,“ This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.”

“ When Israel was a child, I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son.

“ But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, The descendants of Abraham My friend.You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, And called from its farthest regions, And said to you,‘ You are My servant, I have chosen you and have not cast you away:

I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord And the praises of the Lord, According to all that the Lord has bestowed on us, And the great goodness toward the house of Israel, Which He has bestowed on them according to His mercies, According to the multitude of His lovingkindnesses.For He said,“ Surely they are My people, Children who will not lie.” So He became their Savior.In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.

In that day I will make a covenant for them With the beasts of the field, With the birds of the air, And with the creeping things of the ground. Bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth, To make them lie down safely.“ I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the Lord.

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:“ Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord.

And not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac( for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls),it was said to her,“ The older shall serve the younger.”As it is written,“ Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.”
