「『後來我又從你旁邊經過，見你正值少女懷春，我便用衣襟遮蓋你的身體，向你起誓，與你定下婚約，你便屬於我。這是主耶和華說的。

我過而見爾時、乃相愛之際、則以衣襟覆爾、蔽爾裸體、與爾誓約、爾則歸我、主耶和華言之矣、

主耶和華曰、我過而見汝、若女及笄、我以裾覆爾、締結姻盟、于歸乎我。

主天主曰、我從爾旁經過以觀爾、見爾已長、可以于歸、遂以衣裾覆爾、遮爾赤體、向爾發誓、與爾結盟、俾爾歸於我、

“‘ Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

“‘ “Later, I was passing by again. I looked at you. I saw that you were old enough for love. So I married you and took good care of you. I covered your naked body. I made a firm promise to you. I entered into a covenant with you. And you became mine,” announces the Lord and King.

“ When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord God, and you became mine.

And when I passed by again, I saw that you were old enough for love. So I wrapped my cloak around you to cover your nakedness and declared my marriage vows. I made a covenant with you, says the Sovereign Lord, and you became mine.

“‘ Then I passed by you and saw you, and you were indeed at the age for love. So I spread the edge of my garment over you and covered your nakedness. I pledged myself to you, entered into a covenant with you— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD— and you became mine.

“ Then I passed by you and saw you, and behold, you were at the time for love; so I spread My garment over you and covered your nakedness. I also swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you so that you became Mine,” declares the Lord God.

“ When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread My wing over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” says the Lord God.

Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou becamest mine.

“‘ Then I passed by you and watched you, noticing that you had reached the age for love. I spread my cloak over you and covered your nakedness. I swore a solemn oath to you and entered into a marriage covenant with you, declares the sovereign LORD, and you became mine.

“‘“ Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ and you became mine.

『我怎樣對付埃及人，你們都看見了，我好像鷹一樣把你們背在翅膀上帶到我這裡。現在，倘若你們認真聽從我的話，遵守我的約，就必在萬民中做我的子民，因為普天下都是我的。你們要歸於我，作祭司之國、聖潔之邦。這些話你要告訴以色列人。』」摩西召集以色列的長老，把耶和華對他的一切吩咐都轉告他們。百姓都齊聲回答說：「凡耶和華所吩咐的，我們都願意遵從。」摩西便把他們的話回報耶和華。

因為你們屬於你們的上帝耶和華，是聖潔的民族，祂從天下萬族中揀選了你們做祂的子民——祂寶貴的產業。「耶和華喜愛你們、揀選你們，不是因為你們的人口比別的民族多——其實你們在萬族中是最小的——而是因為祂愛你們，遵守祂向你們祖先所起的誓。因此，祂用大能的手把你們從受奴役的地方領出來，從埃及王法老手中救贖了你們。

但基督卻在我們還做罪人的時候為我們死！上帝的愛就這樣顯明了。

求你顧念你的僕人亞伯拉罕、以撒和以色列，你曾憑自己向他們起誓說，『我必使你們的後代像天上的星星那麼多。我應許給你們後代的這整片土地，我必賜給他們作永遠的產業。』」

因為你們的上帝耶和華充滿憐憫，祂不會拋棄你們，滅絕你們，也不會忘記祂與你們祖先所立的誓約。

「『我從你旁邊經過，見你在血泊中掙扎，便對血泊中的你說，活下去！

耶和華不會丟棄祂的子民，使自己的大名受損，祂樂意使你們做祂的子民。

你要告訴他們，主耶和華這樣說，『我揀選以色列那日，曾向雅各家的後裔起誓，又在埃及向他們顯現，告訴他們我是他們的上帝耶和華。那日我向他們起誓，要帶領他們離開埃及，到我為他們預備的奶蜜之鄉，世上最佳美的地方。

耶和華又指示摩西說：「你和亞倫、拿答、亞比戶及以色列的七十位長老上我這裡來，遠遠地敬拜我。只有你可以靠近我，其他人，包括全體百姓，都不得走近。」摩西下山把耶和華的話和法令都告訴百姓，百姓齊聲回答：「我們願意遵行耶和華的一切吩咐。」摩西把耶和華的這些話記錄下來。第二天清晨，摩西在山腳築了一座壇，立了十二根柱子代表以色列的十二支派。他又吩咐以色列的青年去給耶和華獻燔祭，又獻上公牛作平安祭。摩西把祭牲的血一半放在盆裡，一半灑在壇上。他又把約書念給百姓聽，百姓聽了都說：「我們願意遵行耶和華的一切吩咐，我們願意順服。」摩西便把盆中的血灑在百姓身上，說：「這是立約的血，是耶和華按所說的話與你們立約的憑據。」

耶和華說：「以色列年幼時，我就愛他，視他為兒子，把他從埃及召出來。

「然而，以色列啊，你是我的僕人；雅各啊，你是我揀選的，是我朋友亞伯拉罕的後裔。我把你從地極帶來，從遙遠的角落召來。我對你說，『你是我的僕人，我揀選了你，沒有丟棄你。

因耶和華為我們所做的一切，我要述說祂的慈愛和祂可歌可頌的作為，述說祂本著憐憫和大愛賜給以色列人的厚恩。祂說：「他們的確是我的子民，不會背叛我。」因此，祂做他們的救主。祂苦他們所苦，親自拯救他們。祂本著慈愛和憐憫救贖了他們，自古以來一直扶持、照顧他們。

那時，我要跟田間的走獸、空中的飛鳥及地上的爬蟲立約，使牠們不再傷害你。我要在你境內毀滅戰弓和刀劍，止息戰事，使你安居樂業。我要聘你永遠做我的妻，以仁義、正直、慈愛、憐憫聘你。我要以信實聘你為妻，這樣你必認識耶和華。」

從前，耶和華向以色列顯現，說：「我以永遠不變的愛愛你，我以慈愛吸引你到我身邊。

這約不同於我與他們祖先所立的約，就是我牽著他們祖先的手領他們離開埃及時所立的。雖然我是他們的丈夫，他們卻違背了我的約。這是耶和華說的。」

後來，利百加和我們的先祖以撒結婚，懷了雙胞胎。在這對孩子還未出生，還沒有顯出誰善誰惡之前，上帝為了顯明自己揀選人並不是按人的行為，而是按祂自己的旨意，便對利百加說：「將來大的要服侍小的。」正如聖經上說：「我愛雅各，厭惡以掃。」

耶和華說：「我曾愛你們。」你們卻說：「你在何事上愛我們呢？」耶和華說：「以掃不是雅各的哥哥嗎？但我卻愛雅各，
