我们知道律法所说的话都是对律法之下的人说的，好塞住各人的口，使普世的人都伏在上帝的审判之下。

主啊，你是公义的，但我们犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民，并你所赶到各国的以色列众人，不论远近，因为背叛了你，脸上蒙羞，正如今日一样。耶和华啊，我们和我们的君王、官长、祖先因得罪了你，脸上就都蒙羞。

我保持沉默，闭口不言，因为这一切都是你所做的。

那时，你们必追念自己的恶行和不好的作为，就因你们的罪孽和可憎的事厌恶自己。你们要知道，我这样做不是为你们。以色列家啊，你们当为自己的行为抱愧蒙羞。这是主耶和华说的。

当你接纳你的姊姊和妹妹时，你要追念你所行的，自觉惭愧；并且我要将她们赏给你做女儿，却不是按着我与你所立的约。

既是这样，哪里可夸口呢？没有可夸的。是藉什么法呢？功德吗？不是！是藉信主之法。

说：“我的上帝啊，我抱愧蒙羞，不敢向你—我的上帝仰面，因为我们的罪孽多到灭顶，我们的罪恶滔天。

这样，你会对我说：“那么，他为什么还指责人呢？有谁能抗拒他的旨意呢？”你这个人哪，你是谁，竟敢向上帝顶嘴呢？受造之物岂会对造他的说：“你为什么把我造成这样呢？”

罪孽胜了我；至于我们的过犯，你都要赦免。

拯救我们的上帝啊，求你因你名的荣耀帮助我们！为你名的缘故搭救我们，赦免我们的罪。

所以，你这评断人的人哪，无论你是谁，都无可推诿。你在什么事上评断人，就在什么事上定自己的罪。因你这评断人的，自己所做的却和别人一样。

使你与人不同的是谁呢？你所有的有哪一个不是领受的呢？若是领受的，为何自夸，仿佛不是领受的呢？

我们从前也都生活在他们当中，放纵肉体的私欲，随着肉体和心中的意念去做，和别人一样，生来就是该受惩罚的人。然而，上帝有丰富的怜悯，因着他爱我们的大爱，竟在我们因过犯而死了的时候，使我们与基督一同活过来—可见你们得救是本乎恩—

人都有自己的罪，活人有什么好发怨言的呢？

我们从前也是无知、悖逆、受迷惑，作各样私欲和宴乐的奴隶，在恶毒、嫉妒中度日，是可恨的，而且彼此相恨。但到了我们救主上帝的恩慈和慈爱显明的时候，他救了我们，并不是因我们自己所行的义，而是照他的怜悯，藉着重生的洗和圣灵的更新。圣灵就是上帝藉着我们的救主耶稣基督厚厚地浇灌在我们身上的，好让我们因他的恩得称为义，可以凭着永生的盼望成为后嗣。

“看哪，我是卑贱的！我用什么回答你呢？我只好用手捂住我的口。我说了一次，就不回答；说了两次，不再说了。”

所以，我们既因信称义，就藉着我们的主耶稣基督得以与上帝和好。我们又藉着他，因信得以进入现在所站立的这恩典中，并且欢欢喜喜盼望上帝的荣耀。
