我們曉得律法上的話都是對律法以下之人說的，好塞住各人的口，叫普世的人都伏在神審判之下。

主啊，你是公義的，我們是臉上蒙羞的；因我們猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民，並以色列眾人，或在近處，或在遠處，被你趕到各國的人，都得罪了你，正如今日一樣。主啊，我們和我們的君王、首領、列祖因得罪了你，就都臉上蒙羞。

因我所遭遇的是出於你，我就默然不語。

那時，你們必追想你們的惡行和你們不善的作為，就因你們的罪孽和可憎的事厭惡自己。主耶和華說：你們要知道，我這樣行不是為你們。以色列家啊，當為自己的行為抱愧蒙羞。

你接待你姊姊和你妹妹的時候，你要追念你所行的，自覺慚愧；並且我要將她們賜你為女兒，卻不是按着前約。

既是這樣，哪裏能誇口呢？沒有可誇的了。用何法沒有的呢？是用立功之法嗎？不是，乃用信主之法。

說：「我的神啊，我抱愧蒙羞，不敢向我神仰面；因為我們的罪孽滅頂，我們的罪惡滔天。

這樣，你必對我說：「他為甚麼還指責人呢？有誰抗拒他的旨意呢？」你這個人哪，你是誰，竟敢向神強嘴呢？受造之物豈能對造他的說：「你為甚麼這樣造我呢？」

罪孽勝了我；至於我們的過犯，你都要赦免。

拯救我們的神啊，求你因你名的榮耀幫助我們！為你名的緣故搭救我們，赦免我們的罪。

你這論斷人的，無論你是誰，也無可推諉。你在甚麼事上論斷人，就在甚麼事上定自己的罪；因你這論斷人的，自己所行卻和別人一樣。

使你與人不同的是誰呢？你有甚麼不是領受的呢？若是領受的，為何自誇，彷彿不是領受的呢？

我們從前也都在他們中間，放縱肉體的私慾，隨着肉體和心中所喜好的去行，本為可怒之子，和別人一樣。然而，神既有豐富的憐憫，因他愛我們的大愛，當我們死在過犯中的時候，便叫我們與基督一同活過來。你們得救是本乎恩。

活人因自己的罪受罰，為何發怨言呢？

我們從前也是無知、悖逆、受迷惑、服事各樣私慾，和宴樂，常存惡毒嫉妒的心，是可恨的，又是彼此相恨。但到了神－我們救主的恩慈和他向人所施的慈愛顯明的時候，他便救了我們；並不是因我們自己所行的義，乃是照他的憐憫，藉着重生的洗和聖靈的更新。聖靈就是神藉着耶穌基督－我們救主厚厚澆灌在我們身上的，好叫我們因他的恩得稱為義，可以憑着永生的盼望成為後嗣。

我是卑賤的！我用甚麼回答你呢？只好用手摀口。我說了一次，再不回答；說了兩次，就不再說。

我們既因信稱義，就藉着我們的主耶穌基督得與神相和。我們又藉着他，因信得進入現在所站的這恩典中，並且歡歡喜喜盼望神的榮耀。
