然而我們曉得，凡律法所說的，都是對在律法之下的人說的，好讓每一個人都沒有話可講，使全世界的人都伏在神的審判之下。

主啊！你是公義的；我們滿面羞愧，正如今日的光景；我們猶大人、耶路撒冷的居民，和被你趕逐到遠近各地的以色列眾人，都因對你不忠而滿面羞愧。耶和華啊！我們和我們的君王、領袖、列祖，都滿面羞愧，因為我們得罪了你。

因為是你作了這事，我就靜默不開口。

那時，你們必想起你們的惡行和不好的作為，就必因你們的罪孽和可憎惡的事厭惡自己。你們要知道我這樣行，不是為了你們的緣故；以色列家啊！你們要因自己的行為抱愧蒙羞。這是主耶和華的宣告。

你接納你姊姊和你妹妹回來的時候，你就會想起你所行的，並要自覺慚愧；我要把她們賜給你作女兒，但這並不是出於我與你所立的約。

這樣，有甚麼可誇的呢？沒有可誇的了。憑甚麼準則說沒有的呢？憑行為嗎？不是的，而是以信心為準則說的。

禱告說：‘我的神啊，我感覺羞恥慚愧，不敢向我的神你仰面；因為我們的罪孽多至滅頂，我們的罪過滔天。

這樣，你會對我說：“那麼他為甚麼責怪人呢？有誰抗拒他的旨意呢？”你這個人哪，你是誰，竟敢跟神頂嘴呢？被造的怎麼可以對造他的說：“你為甚麼把我做成這個樣子呢？”

罪孽勝過了我，但我們的過犯，你都必赦免。

拯救我們的神啊！求你因你名的榮耀幫助我們；為你名的緣故，搭救我們，赦免我們的罪。

你這判斷人的啊！無論你是誰，都沒有辦法推諉。你在甚麼事上判斷人，就在甚麼事上定自己的罪；因為你所作的，正是你所判斷的事。

使你與人不同的是誰呢？你有甚麼不是領受的呢？既然是領受的，為甚麼要自誇，好像不是領受的呢？

我們從前也都和他們在一起，放縱肉體的私慾，隨著肉體和心意所喜好的去行；我們與別人一樣，生來都是可怒的兒女。然而神滿有憐憫，因著他愛我們的大愛，就在我們因過犯死了的時候，使我們與基督一同活過來，（你們得救是靠著恩典，）

人活在世上，因自己的罪受懲罰，為甚麼發怨言呢？

我們從前也是無知、不順服、受了迷惑、被各種私慾和逸樂所奴役，生活在惡毒和嫉妒之中，是可憎可惡的，並且互相仇視。然而，到了神我們的救主顯明他的恩慈和憐愛的時候，他就救了我們，並不是由於我們所行的義，而是照著他的憐憫，藉著重生的洗和聖靈的更新。聖靈就是神藉著我們的救主耶穌基督豐豐富富澆灌在我們身上的，使我們既然因著他的恩典得稱為義，就可以憑著永生的盼望成為後嗣。

“我是微小的，可以回答你甚麼呢？我只好用手掩口。這說了一次，不再回答；說了二次就不再說。”

所以，我們既然因信稱義，就藉著我們的主耶穌基督與神和好；我們也憑著信，藉著他可以進入現在所站的這恩典中，並且以盼望得享神的榮耀為榮。
