我們知道律法所講的都是針對律法之下的人，好叫所有的人都無話可說，使全世界都伏在上帝的審判之下。

主啊，你是公義的，我們今日滿面羞愧，我們猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民，以及因對你不忠而被驅散到遠近各地的以色列人都滿面羞愧。主啊，我們和我們的君王、首領、先祖因得罪了你而滿臉羞愧。

我默然不語，一言不發，因為我受的責罰是出於你。

那時，你們便會想起自己邪惡的行徑，並因自己的罪惡和可憎行為而厭惡自己。主耶和華說，你們應當知道，我這樣做並不是為了你們。以色列人啊，你們應當為自己的行為抱愧蒙羞。』

你接納你姊妹的時候，會想起自己的所作所為並自覺羞愧。我要將你姊妹賜給你作女兒，我這樣做並不是出於我與你所立的約。

既然如此，我們哪裡能誇口呢？當然沒有可誇的。靠什麼方法讓人不能誇口呢？靠遵守律法嗎？不是！是靠信主的方法。

說：「我的上帝啊，我羞愧難當，不敢抬頭看你，因為我們的惡行滅頂，我們的罪惡滔天。

這樣，你肯定會對我說：「為什麼上帝還指責人呢？誰能抗拒祂的旨意呢？」你這個人啊！你是誰啊？竟敢頂撞上帝！受造之物怎能對造物主說：「你為什麼把我造成這樣？」

雖然我們深陷罪中，你卻赦免了我們。

拯救我們的上帝啊，求你為了自己榮耀的名而幫助我們，為你名的緣故拯救我們，赦免我們的罪。

因此，你這論斷人的啊，不管你是誰，都難逃罪責。你在什麼事上論斷別人，就在什麼事上定了自己的罪，因為你論斷別人的事，自己也在做。

誰使你與眾不同呢？你有哪一樣不是領受的呢？既然一切都是領受的，你為什麼還自誇，好像不是領受的？

我們以前也在他們當中隨從罪惡的本性，放縱肉體和心中的私慾，與其他人一樣本是惹上帝發怒的人。然而上帝有豐富的憐憫，祂深愛我們，儘管我們死在過犯之中，祂仍然使我們和基督一同活了過來。你們得救是因為上帝的恩典。

世人因自己的罪受罰，又何必怨天尤人呢？

從前我們也愚蠢、悖逆、易受迷惑，受各種私慾和享樂的驅使，心裡充滿了嫉妒和惡念，令人憎惡，也彼此憎恨。但我們的救主上帝向人彰顯了祂的恩慈和仁愛，藉著重生之洗和聖靈的更新拯救了我們，這並非因為我們有義行，而是因為祂的憐憫。上帝藉著我們的救主耶穌基督把聖靈豐豐富富地澆灌在我們身上。這樣，我們既然靠著祂的恩典而被稱為義人，就可以成為後嗣，有永生的盼望。

「我這樣卑微，怎能答覆你？我只有用手掩口。我說了一次，不能答覆；說了兩次，不敢再說。」

我們既然因信而被稱為義人，就藉著我們的主耶穌基督與上帝和好了。我們又靠著祂，藉著信進入現在所站的這恩典中，歡歡喜喜地盼望分享上帝的榮耀。
