他們向木頭說：你是我的父；向石頭說：你是生我的。他們以背向我，不以面向我；及至遭遇患難的時候卻說：起來拯救我們。你為自己做的神在哪裏呢？你遭遇患難的時候，叫他們起來拯救你吧！猶大啊，你神的數目與你城的數目相等。

百姓見摩西遲延不下山，就大家聚集到亞倫那裏，對他說：「起來！為我們做神像，可以在我們前面引路；因為領我們出埃及地的那個摩西，我們不知道他遭了甚麼事。」亞倫對他們說：「你們去摘下你們妻子、兒女耳上的金環，拿來給我。」百姓就都摘下他們耳上的金環，拿來給亞倫。亞倫從他們手裏接過來，鑄了一隻牛犢，用雕刻的器具做成。他們就說：「以色列啊，這是領你出埃及地的神。」

他們要將銀子拋在街上，金子看如污穢之物。當耶和華發怒的日子，他們的金銀不能救他們，不能使心裏知足，也不能使肚腹飽滿，因為這金銀作了他們罪孽的絆腳石。論到耶和華妝飾華美的殿，他建立得威嚴，他們卻在其中製造可憎可厭的偶像，所以這殿我使他們看如污穢之物。

又用妝飾打扮你，將鐲子戴在你手上，將金鍊戴在你項上。

阿荷利巴又加增淫行，因她看見人像畫在牆上，就是用丹色所畫迦勒底人的像，腰間繫着帶子，頭上有下垂的裹頭巾，都是軍長的形狀，仿照巴比倫人的形像；他們的故土就是迦勒底。阿荷利巴一看見就貪戀他們，打發使者往迦勒底去見他們。巴比倫人就來登她愛情的牀，與她行淫玷污她。她被玷污，隨後心裏與他們生疏。這樣，她顯露淫行，又顯露下體；我心就與她生疏，像先前與她姊姊生疏一樣。她還加增她的淫行，追念她幼年在埃及地行邪淫的日子，貪戀情人身壯精足，如驢如馬。這樣，你就想起你幼年的淫行。那時，埃及人擁抱你的懷，撫摸你的乳。」

以色列是茂盛的葡萄樹，結果繁多。果子越多，就越增添祭壇；地土越肥美，就越造美麗的柱像。

因以色列輕忽了她的淫亂，和石頭木頭行淫，地就被玷污了。

我必追討她素日給諸巴力燒香的罪；那時她佩帶耳環和別樣妝飾，隨從她所愛的，卻忘記我。這是耶和華說的。

誰心裏也不醒悟，也沒有知識，沒有聰明，能說：「我曾拿一分在火中燒了，在炭火上烤過餅；我也烤過肉吃。這剩下的，我豈要做可憎的物嗎？我豈可向木墩子叩拜呢？」他以灰為食，心中昏迷，使他偏邪，他不能自救，也不能說：「我右手中豈不是有虛謊嗎？」

你在高而又高的山上安設牀榻，也上那裏去獻祭。你在門後，在門框後，立起你的紀念；向外人赤露，又上去擴張牀榻，與他們立約；你在那裏看見他們的牀就甚喜愛。
