“ Son of man, these men have erected their idols in their hearts and placed the obstacle leading to their iniquity right before their faces. Should I really allow them to seek me?

『人子啊，這些人將他們的偶像接上心頭，把陷於他們罪孽中的因由放在自己面前，我哪能讓他們求問甚麼呢？

人子歟、斯人納其偶像於心、置陷罪之窒礙於前、我豈聽其諮諏乎、

人子、斯人之於偶像、中則崇敬之、外則瞻禮之、自陷於惡、豈得諮諏於我乎。

人子、斯人心念其偶像、以陷己於罪之物、置於目前、彼又求問我、我豈應之乎、

“ Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?

“ Son of man, these men have thought about nothing but other gods. They have fallen into the evil trap of worshiping them. Should I let these men ask me for any advice?

“ Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts, and set the stumbling block of their iniquity before their faces. Should I indeed let myself be consulted by them?

“ Son of man, these leaders have set up idols in their hearts. They have embraced things that will make them fall into sin. Why should I listen to their requests?

“ Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and have put their sinful stumbling blocks in front of themselves. Should I actually let them inquire of me?

“ Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts and have put in front of their faces the stumbling block of their wrongdoing. Should I let Myself be consulted by them at all?

“ Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts, and put before them that which causes them to stumble into iniquity. Should I let Myself be inquired of at all by them?

Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

“ Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and have put sinful stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I be consulted by them at all?

For when anyone from the house of Israel, or the foreigner who lives in Israel, separates himself from me and erects his idols in his heart and sets the obstacle leading to his iniquity before his face, and then consults a prophet to seek something from me, I the LORD am determined to answer him personally.

They will discard their silver in the streets, and their gold will be treated like filth. Their silver and gold will not be able to deliver them on the day of the LORD’s fury. They will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs because their wealth was the obstacle leading to their iniquity.

When you spread out your hands in prayer, I look the other way; when you offer your many prayers, I do not listen, because your hands are covered with blood.

“ Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and tell them:‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: Are you coming to seek me? As surely as I live, I will not allow you to seek me, declares the sovereign LORD.’

I did this because they rejected my regulations, did not follow my statutes, and desecrated my Sabbaths; for their hearts followed their idols.

The one who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

Therefore speak to them and say to them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: When any one from the house of Israel erects his idols in his heart and sets the obstacle leading to his iniquity before his face, and then consults a prophet, I the LORD am determined to answer him personally according to the enormity of his idolatry.

When you present your sacrifices– when you make your sons pass through the fire– you defile yourselves with all your idols to this very day. Will I allow you to seek me, O house of Israel? As surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, I will not allow you to seek me!

and a stumbling- stone and a rock to trip over. They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do.

So I, the LORD, say this:‘ I will soon bring disaster on them which they will not be able to escape! When they cry out to me for help, I will not listen to them.

Elisha said to the king of Israel,“ Why are you here? Go to your father’s prophets or your mother’s prophets!” The king of Israel replied to him,“ No, for the LORD is the one who summoned these three kings so that he can hand them over to Moab.”

For you can be confident of this one thing: that no person who is immoral, impure, or greedy( such a person is an idolater) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Because they used to minister to them before their idols, and became a sinful obstacle to the house of Israel, consequently I have made a vow concerning them, declares the sovereign LORD, that they will be responsible for their sin.

The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

But those whose hearts are devoted to detestable things and abominations, I hereby repay them for what they have done, says the sovereign LORD.”

“‘ It then came about that just as I cried out, but they would not obey, so they will cry out, but I will not listen,’ the LORD LORD WHO RULES OVER ALL had said.

Then your survivors will remember me among the nations where they are exiled. They will realize how I was crushed by their unfaithful heart which turned from me and by their eyes which lusted after their idols. They will loathe themselves because of the evil they have done and because of all their abominable practices.

The sin of Judah is engraved with an iron chisel on their stone-hard hearts. It is inscribed with a diamond point on the horns of their altars.Their children are always thinking about their altars and their sacred poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah, set up beside the green trees on the high hills

I will not even consider doing what is dishonest. I hate doing evil; I will have no part of it.

But I have a few things against you: You have some people there who follow the teaching of Balaam, who instructed Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality.

Then Jesus said to them,“ Neither will I tell you by whose authority I do these things.”

You are making a fatal mistake. For you sent me to the LORD your God and asked me,‘ Pray to the LORD our God for us. Tell us what the LORD our God says and we will do it.’This day I have told you what he said. But you do not want to obey the LORD by doing what he sent me to tell you.

If I had harbored sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.

“‘ But just look at you! You are putting your confidence in a false belief that will not deliver you.You steal. You murder. You commit adultery. You lie when you swear on oath. You sacrifice to the god Baal. You pay allegiance to other gods whom you have not previously known.Then you come and stand in my presence in this temple I have claimed as my own and say,“ We are safe!” You think you are so safe that you go on doing all those hateful sins!Do you think this temple I have claimed as my own is to be a hideout for robbers? You had better take note! I have seen for myself what you have done! says the LORD.

The human mind is more deceitful than anything else. It is incurably bad. Who can understand it?

The wicked person’s sacrifice is an abomination; how much more when he brings it with evil intent!

I will sprinkle you with pure water and you will be clean from all your impurities. I will purify you from all your idols.

The LORD abhors the sacrifices of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

So Saul inquired of the LORD, but the LORD did not answer him– not by dreams nor by Urim nor by the prophets.

“ We will not listen to what you claim the LORD has spoken to us!Instead we will do everything we vowed we would do. We will sacrifice and pour out drink offerings to the goddess called the Queen of Heaven just as we and our ancestors, our kings, and our leaders previously did in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, were well-off, and had no troubles.But ever since we stopped sacrificing and pouring out drink offerings to the Queen of Heaven, we have been in great need. Our people have died in wars or of starvation.”

“ I will destroy people and animals; I will destroy the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea.( The idolatrous images of these creatures will be destroyed along with evil people.) I will remove humanity from the face of the earth,” says the Lord.

The one who lives uprightly and speaks honestly; the one who refuses to profit from oppressive measures and rejects a bribe; the one who does not plot violent crimes and does not seek to harm others–

“ When a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I set an obstacle before him, he will die. If you have not warned him, he will die for his sin. The righteous deeds he performed will not be considered, but I will hold you accountable for his death.
