蓋我為耶和華、我將言之、所言必成、不復濡滯、爾悖逆之家乎、在爾尚存之日、我必言之、亦必成之、主耶和華言之矣、○

蓋我耶和華言而有應、原不濡滯、我既言之、爾違逆者、尚存之日、必見效驗、我耶和華已言之矣。

蓋言者乃我、我原文作主我所言者必成之、不復遲延、悖逆之族歟、我所言者、我必於爾尚存之日成之、此乃主天主所言、○

But I the Lord will speak what I will, and it shall be fulfilled without delay. For in your days, you rebellious people, I will fulfill whatever I say, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”

For I am the Lord! If I say it, it will happen. There will be no more delays, you rebels of Israel. I will fulfill my threat of destruction in your own lifetime. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”

In the same way, the promise that I make does not return to me, having accomplished nothing. No, it is realized as I desire and is fulfilled as I intend.”

Therefore say to them,‘ This is what the sovereign LORD says: None of my words will be delayed any longer! The word I speak will come to pass, declares the sovereign LORD.’”

The LORD who commands armies makes this solemn vow:“ Be sure of this: Just as I have intended, so it will be; just as I have planned, it will happen.

“ Look at the nations and pay attention! You will be shocked and amazed! For I will do something in your lifetime that you will not believe even though you are forewarned.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

The word of the LORD came to me:“ Son of man, you are living in the midst of a rebellious house. They have eyes to see, but do not see, and ears to hear, but do not hear, because they are a rebellious house.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

For I, the LORD God of Israel who rules over all, tell you what will happen. I will put an end to the sounds of joy and gladness, to the glad celebration of brides and grooms in this land. You and the rest of the people will live to see this happen.’”

The Lord has done what he planned; he has fulfilled his promise that he threatened long ago: He has overthrown you without mercy and has enabled the enemy to gloat over you; he has exalted your adversaries’ power.צ( Tsade)

But have my words and statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, not outlived your fathers? Then they paid attention and confessed,‘ The LORD who rules over all has indeed done what he said he would do to us, because of our sinful ways.’”

They will know that I am the LORD; my threats to bring this catastrophe on them were not empty.’

I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

This will be a time for you to serve as witnesses.

He has carried out his threats against us and our rulers who were over us by bringing great calamity on us– what has happened to Jerusalem has never been equaled under all heaven!

Say to them,‘ As I live, says the LORD, I will surely do to you just what you have spoken in my hearing.Your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness– all those of you who were numbered, according to your full number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me.You will by no means enter into the land where I swore to settle you. The only exceptions are Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.But I will bring in your little ones, whom you said would become victims of war, and they will enjoy the land that you have despised.But as for you, your dead bodies will fall in this wilderness,and your children will wander in the wilderness forty years and suffer for your unfaithfulness, until your dead bodies lie finished in the wilderness.According to the number of the days you have investigated this land, forty days– one day for a year– you will suffer for your iniquities, forty years, and you will know what it means to thwart me.
