Son of man, what[ is] that proverb[ that] ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth?

“人子啊，你们以色列有一句俗语，‘光阴流逝，异象都落空。’

“人子啊！你们在以色列地怎么有这一句俗语说：‘日子一天一天过去，所有异象都落空了’呢？

「人子啊，在你們以色列地怎麼有這俗語，說『日子遲延，一切異象都落了空』呢？

「人子啊，在以色列地你們怎麼有這俗語說：『日子延長，一切異象卻落了空』呢？

「人子啊，在以色列地你們怎麼有這俗語說：『日子延長，一切異象卻落了空』呢？

「人子啊，你們以色列有一句俗語，『光陰流逝，異象都落空。』

“人子啊！你們在以色列地怎麼有這一句俗語說：‘日子一天一天過去，所有異象都落空了’呢？

『人子啊，關於以色列地你們怎麼有這一句俗語說：「日期一延長，一切異象之傳講就都滅沒了」呢？

人子歟、爾曹在以色列地、有諺語云、時日遲延、啟示無驗、斯言何謂也、

“ Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel:‘ The days go by and every vision comes to nothing’?

“ Son of man, you have a proverb in the land of Israel. It says,‘ The days go by, and not even one vision comes true.’

“ Son of man, what is this proverb that you have about the land of Israel, saying,‘ The days grow long, and every vision comes to nothing’?

“ Son of man, you’ve heard that proverb they quote in Israel:‘ Time passes, and prophecies come to nothing.’

“ Son of man, what is this proverb you people have about the land of Israel, which goes,‘ The days keep passing by, and every vision fails’?

“ Son of man, what is this proverb you people have about the land of Israel, saying,‘ The days are long, and every vision fails’?

“ Son of man, what is this proverb that you people have about the land of Israel, which says,‘ The days are prolonged, and every vision fails’?

Which say,[ It is] not near; let us build houses: this[ city is] the caldron, and we[ be] the flesh.

Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;

Son of man, behold,[ they of] the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth[ is] for many days[ to come], and he prophesieth of the times[ that are] far off.

What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge?[ As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have[ occasion] any more to use this proverb in Israel.

They have belied the LORD, and said,[ It is] not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:And the prophets shall become wind, and the word[ is] not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as[ they were] from the beginning of the creation.

That say, Let him make speed,[ and] hasten his work, that we may see[ it]: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know[ it]!

And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What[ is] the burden of the LORD? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith the LORD.And[ as for] the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house.Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath the LORD answered? and, What hath the LORD spoken?And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man’s word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath the LORD answered thee? and, What hath the LORD spoken?But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD;Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers,[ and cast you] out of my presence:And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.

Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use[ this] proverb against thee, saying, As[ is] the mother,[ so is] her daughter.
