instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously, and in a godly manner in the present age,

And you will desecrate your carved images plated with silver, and your cast metal images plated with gold. You will scatter them as a filthy thing, and say to them,“ Be gone!”

Ephraim, what more have I to do with idols? It is I who answer and look after you. I am like a luxuriant juniper; From Me comes your fruit.

I will first repay them double for their wrongdoing and their sin, because they have defiled My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable idols and their abominations.”

I will also turn My hand against you, And smelt away your impurities as with lye; And I will remove all your slag.Then I will restore your judges as at first, And your counselors as at the beginning; After that you will be called the city of righteousness, A faithful city.”Zion will be redeemed with justice And her repentant ones with righteousness.

Therefore, treat the parts of your earthly body as dead to sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.For it is because of these things that the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.But now you also, rid yourselves of all of them: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene speech from your mouth.
