“ Son of man, the people of Jerusalem have said of your fellow exiles and all the other Israelites,‘ They are far away from the Lord; this land was given to us as our possession.’

“ Son of man, the people of Jerusalem have spoken about you. They have spoken about the others the Babylonians have taken away. They have also spoken about all the other people of Israel. The people of Jerusalem have said,‘ Those people are far away from the Lord. This land was given to us. And it belongs to us.’

“ Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers, your kinsmen, the whole house of Israel, all of them, are those of whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said,‘ Go far from the Lord; to us this land is given for a possession.’

“ Son of man, the people still left in Jerusalem are talking about you and your relatives and all the people of Israel who are in exile. They are saying,‘ Those people are far away from the Lord, so now he has given their land to us!’

“ Son of man, your own relatives, those who have the right to redeem your property, along with the entire house of Israel— all of them— are those to whom the residents of Jerusalem have said,‘ You are far from the LORD; this land has been given to us as a possession.’

“ Son of man, your brothers, your relatives, your fellow exiles, and the entire house of Israel, all of them, are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said,‘ Keep far from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession.’

“ Son of man, your brethren, your relatives, your countrymen, and all the house of Israel in its entirety, are those about whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said,‘ Get far away from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession.’

Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel, all of them, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from Jehovah; unto us is this land given for a possession.

“ Son of man, your own relatives, those who have the right to redeem you, and the entire house of Israel, all of them, are those that the residents of Jerusalem have said this to,‘ Stay away from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession.’

Son of man, thy brethren,[ even] thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly,[ are] they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD: unto us is this land given in possession.

“ Son of man, your brothers, your relatives, and the whole house of Israel, all of them are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said,‘ They have gone far away from the LORD; to us this land has been given as a possession.’

“ Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers, the men of your relatives, and all the house of Israel, all of them, are they to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said,‘ Go far away from Yahweh. This land has been given to us for a possession.’”

“ Son of man, the people living in those ruins in the land of Israel are saying,‘ Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as our possession.’

They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.

Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at his word:“ Your own people who hate you, and exclude you because of my name, have said,‘ Let the Lord be glorified, that we may see your joy!’ Yet they will be put to shame.

After Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and the officials, the skilled workers and the artisans of Judah were carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Lord showed me two baskets of figs placed in front of the temple of the Lord.One basket had very good figs, like those that ripen early; the other basket had very bad figs, so bad they could not be eaten.Then the Lord asked me,“ What do you see, Jeremiah?”“ Figs,” I answered.“ The good ones are very good, but the bad ones are so bad they cannot be eaten.”Then the word of the Lord came to me:“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:‘ Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians.

who say,‘ Keep away; don’t come near me, for I am too sacred for you!’ Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day.
