Then the glory of the Lord departed from over the threshold of the temple and stopped above the cherubim.

God’s chariots are tens of thousands, thousands and thousands; the Lord is among them in the sanctuary as he was at Sinai.You ascended to the heights, taking away captives; you received gifts from people, even from the rebellious, so that the LORD God might dwell there.

He abandoned the tabernacle at Shiloh, the tent where he resided among mankind.He gave up his strength to captivity and his splendor to the hand of a foe.

He drove the man out and stationed the cherubim and the flaming, whirling sword east of the garden of Eden to guard the way to the tree of life.

Now the cherubim were standing to the south of the temple when the man went in, and the cloud filled the inner court.Then the glory of the LORD rose from above the cherub to the threshold of the temple. The temple was filled with the cloud, and the court was filled with the brightness of the LORD’s glory.

“ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her. How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!See, your house is left to you desolate.For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say,‘ Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord’!”

He appointed his beautiful ornaments for majesty, but they made their detestable images from them, their abhorrent things. Therefore, I have made these into something filthy to them.I will hand these things over to foreigners as plunder and to the wicked of the earth as spoil, and they will profane them.I will turn my face from them as they profane my treasured place. Violent men will enter it and profane it.

Even if they raise children, I will bereave them of each one. Yes, woe to them when I depart from them!

“‘ But return to my place that was at Shiloh, where I made my name dwell at first. See what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel.Now, because you have done all these things— this is the LORD’s declaration— and because I have spoken to you time and time again but you wouldn’t listen, and I have called to you, but you wouldn’t answer,what I did to Shiloh I will do to the house that bears my name, the house in which you trust, the place that I gave you and your ancestors.

Be warned, Jerusalem, or I will turn away from you; I will make you a desolation, a land without inhabitants.
