法老必不聽從你們，因此我要伸手嚴厲地懲罰埃及，把我的軍隊，就是我的百姓以色列人從埃及地領出來。

惡人雖然領受恩惠，仍未學到公義。在正直之地，他行不義，也不看耶和華的威嚴。

判罪之後不立刻執行，所以世人滿懷作惡的心思。

那時，巴比倫王的軍隊正攻打耶路撒冷，又攻打猶大僅存的城鎮，就是拉吉和亞西加；原來猶大的堅固城只剩下這兩座。西底家王與耶路撒冷的眾百姓立約，要他們宣告自由，叫各人釋放自己的僕人和婢女，使希伯來的男人和女人得自由，誰也不可使他的猶大弟兄作奴僕。這事以後，耶和華的話臨到耶利米。

法老心裏剛硬，不聽摩西和亞倫，正如耶和華所說的。耶和華對摩西說：「法老心硬，不肯放百姓走。

耶和華對摩西說：「你回到埃及去的時候，要留意將我交在你手中的一切奇事行在法老面前。但我要任憑他的心剛硬，他必不放百姓走。

經上說：「今日，你們若聽他的話，就不可硬着心，像在背叛之時。」

就不可硬着心，像在背叛之時，就如在曠野受試探之日。

有人報告埃及王說：「百姓逃跑了！」法老和他的臣僕對百姓改變了心意，說：「我們放以色列人走，不再服事我們，我們怎麼會做這種事呢？」

他們卻不留意；聳肩悖逆，耳朵發沉，不肯聽從。他們的心堅硬如金剛石，不聽律法和萬軍之耶和華藉着他的靈差遣從前先知所說的話。因此，萬軍之耶和華大發烈怒。

人屢次受責罰，仍然硬着頸項，他必頃刻被毀，無從醫治。

人被炎熱所烤，就褻瀆那有權掌管這些災難的上帝的名，他們沒有悔改，也沒有把榮耀歸給上帝。

以法蓮哪，我可以向你怎樣行呢？猶大啊，我可以向你怎樣做呢？因為你們的慈愛如同早晨的雲霧，又如速散的露水。
