当时，他们人丁有限，数目稀少，在那地寄居。

我的家在上帝面前不是如此吗？上帝与我立永远的约，这约既全备又稳妥。我的一切救恩和我一切所想望的，他岂不成全吗？

“我在你们中间是外人，是寄居的。请给我你们那里的一块坟地，我好埋葬我的亡妻，使她不在我的面前。”

“看哪，这就是我与你立的约，你要成为多国的父。

在这里上帝并没有给他产业，连立足的地方都没有，但应许要将这地赐给他和他的后裔为业，虽然那时他还没有儿子。

你家里生的和你用银子买的，都必须受割礼。这样，我的约就在你们肉体上成为永远的约。
