當時，他們人丁有限，數目稀少，在那地寄居。

我的家在神面前不是如此嗎？神與我立永遠的約，這約既全備又穩妥。我的一切救恩和我一切所想望的，他豈不成全嗎？

「我在你們中間是外人，是寄居的。請給我你們那裏的一塊墳地，我好埋葬我的亡妻，使她不在我的面前。」

「看哪，這就是我與你立的約，你要成為多國的父。

在這裏神並沒有給他產業，連立足的地方都沒有，但應許要將這地賜給他和他的後裔為業，雖然那時他還沒有兒子。

你家裏生的和你用銀子買的，都必須受割禮。這樣，我的約就在你們肉體上成為永遠的約。
