亞倫的兒子以利亞撒也死了，他們把他葬在他兒子非尼哈所得以法蓮山區的小山上。

亞倫祭司的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈看見了，就從會眾中起來，手裏拿着槍，跟這以色列人進入帳棚，刺穿了二人，就是以色列人和那女子的肚腹。這樣，以色列人遭受的瘟疫就停止了。遭瘟疫死的，有二萬四千人。耶和華吩咐摩西說：「亞倫祭司的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，使我的憤怒轉離以色列人，因為在他們中間，他以我的妒忌為他的妒忌，使我不在妒忌中毀滅以色列人。因此，你要說：『看哪，我將我平安的約賜給他。這是他和他的後裔永遠當祭司職任的約，因他為了神而妒忌，他為以色列人贖罪。』」

以色列人派以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈，往基列地，到呂便人、迦得人和瑪拿西半支派的人那裏。

以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈對呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西人說：「今日我們知道耶和華在我們中間，因為你們沒有向他犯悖逆的罪。現在你們把以色列人從耶和華的手中救出來了。」以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈與眾領袖離開了呂便人和迦得人，從基列地回迦南地，到了以色列人那裏，就把這事向他們回報。

那時，非尼哈起而干預，瘟疫這才止息。那就算他為義，世世代代，直到永遠。

摩西派他們去打仗，每支派一千人；又派以利亞撒祭司的兒子非尼哈同去；非尼哈手裏拿着聖所的器皿和吹號的號筒。

那時，亞倫的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈侍立在約櫃前。他們說：「我可以再出去與我弟兄便雅憫人打仗嗎？還是停戰呢？」耶和華說：「你們可以上去，因為明日我必把他交在你手中。」
