亞倫的兒子以利亞撒也死了，就把他葬在他兒子非尼哈所得以法蓮山地的小山上。

祭司亞倫的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈看見了，就從會中起來，手裏拿着槍，跟隨那以色列人進亭子裏去，便將以色列人和那女人由腹中刺透。這樣，在以色列人中瘟疫就止息了。那時遭瘟疫死的，有二萬四千人。耶和華曉諭摩西說：「祭司亞倫的孫子，以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，使我向以色列人所發的怒消了；因他在他們中間，以我的忌邪為心，使我不在忌邪中把他們除滅。因此，你要說：『我將我平安的約賜給他。這約要給他和他的後裔，作為永遠當祭司職任的約；因他為神有忌邪的心，為以色列人贖罪。』」

以色列人打發祭司以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈，往基列地去見呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西半支派的人；

祭司以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈對呂便人、迦得人、瑪拿西人說：「今日我們知道耶和華在我們中間，因為你們沒有向他犯了這罪。現在你們救以色列人脫離耶和華的手了。」祭司以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈與眾首領離了呂便人、迦得人，從基列地回往迦南地，到了以色列人那裏，便將這事回報他們。

那時，非尼哈站起，刑罰惡人，瘟疫這才止息。那就算為他的義，世世代代，直到永遠。

摩西就打發每支派的一千人去打仗，並打發祭司以利亞撒的兒子非尼哈同去；非尼哈手裏拿着聖所的器皿和吹大聲的號筒。
