亚伦的儿子以利亚撒也死了；以色列人就把他埋葬在基比亚，就是他儿子非尼哈在以法莲山地所得的产业。

亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈看见了，就从会众中起来，手里拿着枪，跟着那以色列人，进入卧室，把他们两人刺透，就是刺透那以色列人和那女子。枪刺进了那女子的肚腹。这样，在以色列人中的瘟疫才止住。那时因瘟疫而死的，共有二万四千人。耶和华对摩西说：“亚伦祭司的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈，使我的烈怒稍消，不向以色列人发作，因为他在他们中间以我忌邪的心为心，使我不因我忌邪的心把他们消灭。因此你要说：‘现在我把平安之约赐给他，要给他和他的后裔作为永远担当祭司职分的约，因为他为他的神有忌邪的心，为以色列人赎罪。’”

以色列人派以利亚撒祭司的儿子非尼哈，到基列地去见流本人、迦得人和玛拿西半个支派的人；

以利亚撒祭司的儿子非尼哈对流本人、迦得人和玛拿西人说：“今天我们知道耶和华是在我们中间的，因为你们并没有对耶和华不忠；现在你们已经救了以色列人脱离耶和华的手。”以利亚撒祭司的儿子非尼哈和众领袖离开了流本人和迦得人，从基列地回到迦南地以色列人那里，把这事向他们报告。

那时非尼哈站起来，执行刑罚，瘟疫才止息。这就算为他的义，世世代代直到永远。

摩西就打发每支派的一千人去打仗，并且派遣以利亚撒祭司的儿子非尼哈与他们一同去，非尼哈手里拿着圣所的器皿和吹大声的号筒。

那时，亚伦的孙子、以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈，侍立在约柜前供职。以色列人求问耶和华，说：“我们应再出去与我们的兄弟便雅悯人交战呢？还是休战呢？”耶和华说：“你们应上去，因为明天我必把他们交在你们手中。”
