He made the atonement cover of pure gold— two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.

He made its cover out of pure gold. It was three feet nine inches long and two feet three inches wide. The cover is the place where sin is paid for.

And he made a mercy seat of pure gold. Two cubits and a half was its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth.

Then he made the Ark’s cover— the place of atonement— from pure gold. It was 45 inches long and 27 inches wide.

He made a mercy seat of pure gold, forty-five inches long and twenty-seven inches wide.

He also made an atoning cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.

Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.

He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

He is to take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the Lord and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense and take them behind the curtain.He is to put the incense on the fire before the Lord, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die.He is to take some of the bull’s blood and with his finger sprinkle it on the front of the atonement cover; then he shall sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the atonement cover.“ He shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and take its blood behind the curtain and do with it as he did with the bull’s blood: He shall sprinkle it on the atonement cover and in front of it.

Then David gave his son Solomon the plans for the portico of the temple, its buildings, its storerooms, its upper parts, its inner rooms and the place of atonement.

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood— to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

“ Make an atonement cover of pure gold— two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide.And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover.Make one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends.The cherubim are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover.Place the cover on top of the ark and put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law that I will give you.There, above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.
