永恆主告訴摩西說：『你要取頭等的香料：就是流質的沒藥五百舍客勒、香肉桂一半、就是二百五十、香菖蒲二百五十、桂皮五百，都按聖所的平，又橄欖油一欣；將這些物品作成聖膏油，就是按作香物者的作法所配合成的香物，是要作為聖膏油的。你要用這膏油膏會棚和法櫃、桌子和桌子的一切器具、燈臺和燈臺的器具、跟香壇、燔祭壇和它的一切器具、洗濯盆和盆座：你要把這些東西分別為聖，好成為至聖；無論甚麼、凡觸着它們的、都會成為聖的。你也要用膏膏亞倫和他的兒子們，好把他們分別為聖、作祭司來事奉我。你要告訴以色列人說：「這油必須保留給我為聖油、做聖膏抹之用、直到萬代。不可倒在平常人的肉身上，也不可按它的成分去作和這個相似的；這膏油是聖別，你們也要以為聖別。人若配合跟這個相似的，或是將這膏油塗在非祭司的平常人身上，這人就必須從他的族人中被剪除。」』永恆主對摩西說：『你要取芬芳的香料，就是蘇合香、鳳凰螺鰓蓋、白松香：這芬芳的香料和純乳香、要一分對一分。你要將這個作成香，就是按作香物者的作法所作成的香物，用鹽調劑，潔淨而聖別；你要把這香取點兒去搗碎到極細，放在會棚內法櫃前、我要和你相會的地方；你們要以這香為至聖。你所要作的香、不可按其成分去作；你要以這香為聖歸於永恆主。凡作香和這香一樣、去聞香氣的、這人必須從他的族人中被剪除。』
