“我因耶和华说要灭绝你们，就在耶和华面前照旧俯伏四十昼夜。

因你们所犯的一切罪，行了耶和华眼中看为恶的事，惹他发怒，我就像从前俯伏在耶和华面前四十昼夜，没有吃饭，也没有喝水。

我上了山，要领受两块石版，就是耶和华与你们立约的版。那时我在山上住了四十昼夜，没有吃饭，也没有喝水。

是神的工作，字是神写的，刻在版上。

那用字刻在石头上属死的职事尚且有荣光，甚至以色列人因摩西面上的荣光，不能定睛看他的脸；这荣光原是渐渐退去的，

你先前摔碎的那版，其上的字我要写在这版上；你要将这版放在柜中。’于是我用皂荚木做了一柜，又凿出两块石版，和先前的一样，手里拿这两块版上山去了。耶和华将那大会之日、在山上从火中所传与你们的十条诫，照先前所写的，写在这版上，将版交给我了。
