耶和华在西奈山上与摩西说完了话，就把两块法版交给他，是神用指头写的石版。

摩西进入云彩中，上到山上去；摩西在山上四十昼夜。

“因为耶和华说要消灭你们，我就俯伏在耶和华面前，共俯伏了四十昼夜。

为了你们所犯的一切罪，作了耶和华看为恶的事，惹他发怒，我就像先前那样，俯伏在耶和华面前，四十昼夜，不吃不喝。

那时，我上了山，要领受石版，就是耶和华与你们立约的石版；那时我在山上住了四十昼夜，不吃不喝。

法版是神的工作，字是神写的，刻在法版上。

如果那以文字刻在石上使人死的律法的工作，尚且带有荣光，以致以色列人因着摩西脸上短暂的荣光，不能注视他的脸，

我要把你摔碎的先前那两块版上的话，写在这两块版上；你要把它们放在柜中。’于是我用皂荚木做了一个柜，又凿出了两块石版，和先前的一样；然后我手里拿着这两块石版，上山去了。耶和华把先前所写的，就是在集会的日子，在山上从火中告诉你们的十诫，都写在这两块版上；耶和华把石版交给了我。
