Go up to this land that flows with milk and honey. But I will not travel among you, for you are a stubborn and rebellious people. If I did, I would surely destroy you along the way.”

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ I have seen this people, and behold, they are an obstinate people.So now leave Me alone, that My anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them; and I will make of you a great nation.”

So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite.

“ Know, then, that it is not because of your righteousness that the Lord your God is giving you this good land to possess, for you are a stubborn people.Remember, do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to anger in the wilderness; from the day that you left the land of Egypt until you arrived at this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord.Even at Horeb you provoked the Lord to anger, and the Lord was so angry with you that He would have destroyed you.When I went up to the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I remained on the mountain for forty days and nights; I neither ate bread nor drank water.The Lord gave me the two tablets of stone written by the finger of God; and on them were all the words which the Lord had spoken with you at the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.It came about at the end of forty days and nights that the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.Then the Lord said to me,‘ Arise, go down from here quickly, because your people, whom you brought out of Egypt, have behaved corruptly. They have quickly turned aside from the way that I commanded them; they have made a cast metal image for themselves.’The Lord also said to me,‘ I have seen this people, and indeed, it is a stubborn people.

Then he said to Him,“ If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here.For how then can it be known that I have found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are on the face of the earth?”The Lord said to Moses,“ I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; for you have found favor in My sight and I have known you by name.”

Hear and testify against the house of Jacob,” Declares the Lord God, the God of armies.“ For on the day that I punish Israel’s offenses, I will also punish the altars of Bethel; The horns of the altar will be cut off, And will fall to the ground.

in order to confirm the oath which I swore to your forefathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day.” ’ ” Then I replied,“ Amen, Lord.”

“ Get away from among this congregation so that I may consume them instantly.” Then they fell on their faces.

“ Separate yourselves from among this congregation, so that I may consume them instantly.”

When I say to the righteous that he will certainly live, and he so trusts in his righteousness that he commits injustice, none of his righteous deeds will be remembered; but for that same injustice of his which he has committed he will die.But when I say to the wicked,‘ You will certainly die,’ and he turns from his sin and practices justice and righteousness,if a wicked person returns a pledge, pays back what he has taken by robbery, walks by the statutes which ensure life without committing injustice, he shall certainly live; he shall not die.None of his sins that he has committed will be remembered against him. He has practiced justice and righteousness; he shall certainly live.

For the sons of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, until all the nation, that is, the men of war who came out of Egypt, perished because they did not listen to the voice of the Lord, to whom the Lord had sworn that He would not let them see the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

“ You men who are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did.

If the Lord is pleased with us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us— a land which flows with milk and honey.

So they reported to him and said,“ We came into the land where you sent us, and it certainly does flow with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.

When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their evil way, then God relented of the disaster which He had declared He would bring on them. So He did not do it.

Is it not enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey to have us die in the wilderness, but you would also appoint yourself as master over us?

So the Lord relented of the harm which He said He would do to His people.

I will strike them with plague and dispossess them, and I will make you into a nation greater and mightier than they.”

Be attentive to him and obey his voice; do not be rebellious toward him, for he will not pardon your rebellion, since My name is in him.

Then Jonah began to go through the city one day’s walk; and he cried out and said,“ Forty more days, and Nineveh will be overthrown.”

And it shall be when the Lord brings you to the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall perform this rite in this month.

When I say to the wicked,‘ You will certainly die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way so that he may live, that wicked person shall die for wrongdoing, but his blood I will require from your hand.However if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die for wrongdoing, but you have saved yourself.

I would have said,“ I will wipe them out, I will remove the mention of their name from humanity,”Had I not feared the provocation by the enemy, That their adversaries would misjudge, That they would say,“ Our hand is triumphant, And the Lord has not performed all this.” ’

Therefore the Lord God of Israel declares,‘ I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father was to walk before Me forever’; but now the Lord declares,‘ Far be it from Me— for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be insignificant.

So I have said to you,“ You are to take possession of their land, and I Myself will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.” I am the Lord your God, who has singled you out from the peoples.

Then he said,“ If in any way I have found favor in Your sight, Lord, please may the Lord go along in our midst, even though the people are so obstinate, and pardon our wrongdoing and our sin, and take us as Your own possession.”

At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot it, to tear it down, or to destroy it;if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I planned to bring on it.Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it;if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will relent of the good with which I said that I would bless it.

And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.
