也不要拜偶像，像他們有人拜的。如經上所記：「百姓坐下吃喝，起來玩耍。」

非利士人的首領聚集，要給他們的神大袞獻大祭，並且歡樂，因為他們說：「我們的神將我們的仇敵參孫交在我們手中了。」眾人看見參孫，就讚美他們的神說：「我們的神將毀壞我們地、殺害我們許多人的仇敵交在我們手中了。」他們正宴樂的時候，就說：「叫參孫來，在我們面前戲耍戲耍。」於是將參孫從監裏提出來，他就在眾人面前戲耍。他們使他站在兩柱中間。

那時，他們造了一個牛犢，又拿祭物獻給那像，歡喜自己手中的工作。神就轉臉不顧，任憑他們事奉天上的日月星辰，正如先知書上所寫的說：以色列家啊，你們四十年間在曠野，豈是將犧牲和祭物獻給我嗎？

住在地上的人就為他們歡喜快樂，互相餽送禮物，因這兩位先知曾叫住在地上的人受痛苦。

他們在各壇旁鋪人所當的衣服，臥在其上，又在他們神的廟中喝受罰之人的酒。

約書亞一聽見百姓呼喊的聲音，就對摩西說：「在營裏有爭戰的聲音。」摩西說：「這不是人打勝仗的聲音，也不是人打敗仗的聲音；我所聽見的乃是人歌唱的聲音。」摩西挨近營前就看見牛犢，又看見人跳舞，便發烈怒，把兩塊版扔在山下摔碎了，

我必使你們的節期變為悲哀，歌曲變為哀歌。眾人腰束麻布，頭上光禿，使這場悲哀如喪獨生子，至終如痛苦的日子一樣。

摩西將耶和華的命令都寫上。清早起來，在山下築一座壇，按以色列十二支派立十二根柱子，又打發以色列人中的少年人去獻燔祭，又向耶和華獻牛為平安祭。
