He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said,“ These are your gods, Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”

He took what they gave him and made it into a metal statue of a god. It looked like a calf. Aaron shaped it with a tool. Then the people said,“ Israel, here is your god who brought you up out of Egypt.”

And he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden calf. And they said,“ These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

Then Aaron took the gold, melted it down, and molded it into the shape of a calf. When the people saw it, they exclaimed,“ O Israel, these are the gods who brought you out of the land of Egypt!”

He took the gold from them, fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made it into an image of a calf. Then they said,“ Israel, these are your gods, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!”

製造偶像的人，盡都是虛空的，他們所喜愛的，都沒有益處。他們的見證人，一無所見，一無所知，以致他們蒙羞。誰製造神像，或鑄造偶像，不想得到益處呢？

王打定了主意，就做了兩個金牛犢，對眾民說：“以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去實在夠了。看哪，這是你們的神，就是從埃及地領你們上來的那位。”

現在你們有意要反抗大衛子孫手下的耶和華的國；你們人數眾多，你們那裡也有金牛犢，就是耶羅波安為你們所做，當作神的。

他們在何烈山做了牛犢，敬拜鑄成的偶像。這樣，他們用吃草的牛的像，代替了他們的榮耀的神。他們竟忘記了拯救他們的神；他曾在埃及行了大事，

耶羅波安為邱壇、公山羊神，以及他鑄造的牛犢，自己設立了祭司。

你們把誰來跟神相比呢？你們用甚麼形象來與神並列呢？至於偶像，是匠人鑄造的，鑄匠用金子把它包裹，用銀子為它做銀鍊。

那些從錢袋倒出金子，用天平稱銀子的人，雇用金匠製造神像；他們向神像又俯伏又叩拜。

撒瑪利亞的居民必因伯．亞文的牛犢而懼怕；拜牛犢的人民必為它哀慟。拜牛犢的祭司必為它哀號，都因它的榮耀離開它而被擄去了。

只是耶戶沒有離棄尼八的兒子耶羅波安的罪，就是他使以色列人陷於罪中的那些罪，敬拜在伯特利和但的金牛犢。

米迦就把那十二公斤銀子歸還給他母親；他母親說：“我把這些銀子從我手中分別為聖，為我的兒子歸給耶和華，好做一個雕像，一個鑄像；現在，我要還給你。”米迦把銀子還給他母親以後，他母親取出二千三百克銀子交給銀匠，製造一個雕像和一個鑄像，都放在米迦的家裡。

因為他們雖然知道神，卻不尊他為神，也不感謝他，反而心思變為虛妄，愚頑的心就迷糊了。他們自以為是聰明的，卻成了愚蠢的。他們用必朽壞的人、飛禽、走獸和昆蟲的形象，取代了永不朽壞的神的榮耀。

你們不可做銀的神像和金的神像和我相比，你們決不可為自己做這些神像。

人民見摩西遲遲不下山，就聚集到亞倫那裡去，對他說：“起來，為我們做神像可以走在我們前頭領路，因為那摩西，就是把我們從埃及地領出來的那個人，我們不知道他遭遇了甚麼事。”

我們既然是神的子孫，就不應該以為他的神性是好像人用手藝、心思所雕刻的金銀石頭一樣。

現在他們犯罪越來越多，為自己做鑄像，按著自己的技巧，用自己的銀子做偶像；這些都是匠人的手工。他們論到這些說：“向偶像獻祭的人，可以親吻牛犢。”

“他們立了君王，卻不是出於我；他們立了首領，我卻不知道。他們用自己的金銀為自己做了偶像，以致他們被剪除。撒瑪利亞啊！我要除掉你的牛犢，我的怒氣要向撒瑪利亞人發作，他們要到幾時才能無罪免罰呢？

好像寶石雕刻匠刻印章一樣，你要把以色列眾子的名字刻在這兩塊寶石上，要把它們鑲嵌在金槽中。

“我是耶和華你的神，曾經把你從埃及地，從為奴之家領出來。

耶羅波安又定了八月十五日為節期，像在猶大的節期一樣，他自己在祭壇上獻祭，他在伯特利也是這樣向他所鑄造的牛犢獻祭；他又在伯特利為他所建造的邱壇設立祭司。
