“ See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you.

And I will send an angel before you to drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

“ On the very day I punish Israel for its sins, I will destroy the pagan altars at Bethel. The horns of the altar will be cut off and fall to the ground.

O Lord our God, you answered them. You were a forgiving God to them, but you punished them when they went wrong.
