亞倫說：『求我主不要生氣；你認識這人民，知道他們是一味作壞事的。

亞倫曰、我主勿怒、斯民決志作惡、爾所知也、

亞倫曰、我主勿怒、爾知斯民、惟惡是作、

亞倫曰、我主毋怒、爾知斯民專於作惡、

“ Do not be angry, my lord,” Aaron answered.“ You know how prone these people are to evil.

“ Please don’t be angry,” Aaron answered.“ You know how these people like to do what is evil.

And Aaron said,“ Let not the anger of my lord burn hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

“ Don’t be enraged, my lord,” Aaron replied.“ You yourself know that the people are intent on evil.

And Aaron said,“ Do not let the anger of my lord burn; you know the people yourself, that they are prone to evil.

So Aaron said,“ Do not let the anger of my Lord become hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on evil.

“ Don’t be enraged, my lord,” Aaron replied.“ You yourself know that the people are intent on evil.

And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they[ are set] on mischief.

Aaron said,“ Do not let your anger burn hot, my lord; you know these people, that they tend to evil.

Aaron said,“ Don’t let the anger of my lord grow hot. You know the people, that they are set on evil.

Yes, you have been rebelling against the Lord as long as I have known you.

and they said to Moses,“ Why did you bring us out here to die in the wilderness? Weren’t there enough graves for us in Egypt? What have you done to us? Why did you make us leave Egypt?

But some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. Moses was very angry with them.

Then the people complained and turned against Moses.“ What are we going to drink?” they demanded.

Then Saul admitted to Samuel,“ Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the Lord’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded.

“ Remember and never forget how angry you made the Lord your God out in the wilderness. From the day you left Egypt until now, you have been constantly rebelling against him.

For I know how rebellious and stubborn you are. Even now, while I am still alive and am here with you, you have rebelled against the Lord. How much more rebellious will you be after my death!

For evil people can’t sleep until they’ve done their evil deed for the day. They can’t rest until they’ve caused someone to stumble.

The Lord asked Moses,“ How long will these people refuse to obey my commands and instructions?

There, too, the whole community of Israel complained about Moses and Aaron.“ If only the Lord had killed us back in Egypt,” they moaned.“ There we sat around pots filled with meat and ate all the bread we wanted. But now you have brought us into this wilderness to starve us all to death.”Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Look, I’m going to rain down food from heaven for you. Each day the people can go out and pick up as much food as they need for that day. I will test them in this to see whether or not they will follow my instructions.

So once more the people complained against Moses.“ Give us water to drink!” they demanded.“ Quiet!” Moses replied.“ Why are you complaining against me? And why are you testing the Lord?”But tormented by thirst, they continued to argue with Moses.“ Why did you bring us out of Egypt? Are you trying to kill us, our children, and our livestock with thirst?”Then Moses cried out to the Lord,“ What should I do with these people? They are ready to stone me!”

They lie awake at night, hatching sinful plots. Their actions are never good. They make no attempt to turn from evil.
